Why is David Lee such a poor defender?

David Lee is 30 years old, just coming off surgery and is a defensive liability. I'm not the biggest Ibaka fan but there is much more value there. Golden State should just dump Lee for some flexibility, even then it might be hard to find a taker.

That's pretty harsh. Ibaka is worth a lot more than Lee, so in a straight up trade it'd be an easy no. Trading David Lee shouldn't be a problem for them at all. He's a pretty good offensive player. I'm sure New Jesery would love to trade a humphries expiring, pick/brooks for him.

That's the exact opposite move New Jersey should be focused on. Already made that mistake with Gerald Wallace, could of had Barnes, Lillard, Drummond etc. Already have big contracts in Deron, Johnson, Lopez. No way they make a move for Lee by giving up more flexibility and future assets.

Whether that's what NJ should be planning on or not is different. There were a lot of Boozer to NJ rumors, same concept as David Lee to NJ. They've already made moves that don't make sense if they are worried about the tax.

Golden state has $42 million in expiring next year. They have flexibility coming up. If they want to just get under the tax, it shouldn't be that hard to do, without giving up a productive player. At the end of the day David Lee is a productive player, and not a negative value player trading him would net something positive.

Lee has value when it comes to decent scoring and rebounding. He is a negative value when it comes to his age, defense and his contract. I see overall a net negative value pending on the team and situation. For OKC who traded away Harden to keep Ibaka this makes no sense at all. Don't know what else GS would offer up to make this work. I don't see the point in aquiring highly paid, older, defensive liabilities no matter how much they are scoring and rebounding. Just my values.

no way in hell OKC does this. But if Golden State somehow pulled this off, they would be scary on so many levels. Healthy Bogut banging on both ends, Ibaka swatting everything, Barnes developing more and more each season into a legit star, and then the Splash brothers.
