Rays May thread
Rays are very inconsistent in all facets of the game.
The lack of velocity from Price is of concern. He's mostly pitched on cold weather thus far, but he has had so-so command of his fastball and it's 3-4 mph lower than usual.
I just hope it is not a health issue.

Re: Rays May thread
Rays finally get to the .500 mark at 18-18.
Pretty amazing when you think about it.... as they have yet to put everything together at one time.

The Rays are finally on a roll. The bats are still suspect as is the bullpen. We'll see.

I think the bullpen is starting to look good actually. Loney, Scott, Longo all seeing pitches well. Really need Jennings to improve at the plate if he's gonna stay at the top of the order.

Rodney blew another game. He is def not having the year he had last year, then again last year was rare.

Re: Rays May thread
has hellickson had 1 good outing yet this year? yikes. on the other hand...
top OPS (On-base percentage + Slugging) over the last 30 days:
Loney 1.124
Longo 1.028
Scott .926
Joyce .870
and these numbers dont even include the offensive onslaught from tonight.

His fastball command is wildly inconsistent, and his changeup is arriving between 85-87 mph while last year his changeup was 82-83 mph.
Rodney has always had command issues prior to last season, so, unfortunately it looks like Rodney is now following his career path....meaning last season was an aberration

The bullpen has returned to 2007 status, which means it is now the worst pen in the bigs.

So our offense is on fire and the pitching is horrible. We are watching the Rays, right?

Well they had a real nice sweep against an Orioles team that has been a huge nemesis.

The sweep was needed....now it's a matter of getting the bullpen in order and staying healthy.
Rays dropped the opener at Toronto today though.

Re: Rays May thread
Really need Zobrist to cut down on the strike outs! That or take him out of the 3 hole in the line up.
1. Jennings
2. Roberts/Johnson/Joyce/Zobrist
3. Loney/Scott
4. Longo
5. Scott/Loney
rest

Re: Rays May thread
Rays win the 2nd game at Tor but Rodney gave up another run and almost blew the game again. His ERA is 5.00 right now. How long before we try someone else as closer? And who?
Rodney has already doubled the amount of runs he gave up of all of last year and has one more blown save than all of last year.

I liked Zobrist in the 5 spot.
I think he's more suited for that part of the lineup, at least until he becomes a .280 plus hitter.

Add another blown save to the list.
UGH!
There aren't really any viable options at this time....so, I guess we will just have to wait/hope Rodney can find his command again.
He's very scary these days.
