What's our draft pick situation looking like?

Post#1 » by XtotheDeezy » Tue May 14, 2013 6:58 am

I know we've been actively trading away our picks in the past few seasons, but do we have anything in this upcoming draft? The 2014 draft? I know we don't lottery picks, but any draft pick is still valuable in this CBA. I'm sure there are some GMs out there who will be late to realize this and that could help us inject some youth into the team and we might find some gems.

Also do you think anyone on our team could net us some late first rounders? Besides Dwight and Kobe, of course.

We have our 2nd round pick this year(#48)......we had the Memphis 2nd round pick as well but it was top 55 protected and Mem had the 6th best record in the league and thus their pick is #55...so we DON'T get it

As for the future,we do have our 1st round pick in 2014.....we don't have our 2nd round pick(Steve Nash trade-unprotected) but we do get the Nugz second round pick if I'm not mistaken (with a protection though)

Hmm...I hope we hold on to that first rounded in 2014 since someone might fall to us, unless of course we can package it with someone for a proven upgrade. Do you think we could sneak Metta underneath the table for a second rounder?

AFAIK,we can't trade the pick......we must have at least a 1st round pick in consecutive years
That's why we traded the 2013 and 2015 picks to the Suns and not 2014

As for MWP,he has a PO worth 7.7 mil
No way we get even a 2nd round pick for him without taking back a bad contract along the way, which the FO obviously wouldn't want

Then let's throw idea that in the DO NOT WANT WITH A TEN-YEAH YOU HEARD ME- TEN FOOT POLE!" box. I guess we'll just have to do some damn good scouting next year to draft a good role player (hopefully a Tony Parker, but LOL it's not happening as long as crocodiles eat food).

This is another year where a mid second round pick is not really going to make much of an impact or difference. Giving up so much for Nash was a big mistake. Nice player. But so many #1 picks. Did we not think ahead, Kobe only 2 years left, now one. The future of this team can not always be a check book and write a check to the best player.
