Too bad Lebron and the Heat aren't going to win the Championship this season. They don't have what it takes down low. And they are going to need it against the Spurs, Grizzlies, and the Pacers.

Yeah, I think Memphis and Indiana would be their biggest challenges. Memphis more so than Indiana

1st half turnovers are the really only problem but the career high scoring efficiency makes up for most Id think.

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
Lebron talked about his injury in 10
"My last year in Cleveland, I had an elbow injury that lingered throughout the playoffs," said James.
"I just tried to go out there and give it all you got. It sucks because you know you can play much better. You know you can do things but the injury is not allowing you to do it. It was on my shooting arm, so it was very tough. So I know what he's going through."

He still had a good postseason and solid series against the Celts with the exception of the pitiful game 5. The knocks he took after the 2011 finals were justified. Some of the criticism after that Celtic series was absurd though. Straight up lowest common denominator fan, Skip Bayless level junk

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
Any thoughts on the possibility that Lebron might have to go through both the Pacers AND Grizzlies this playoffs?

I think Memphis can give them more trouble. Bast's call on them from a month or so back is looking real good right now.

Bob, do you calculate all of this yourself? I get different results with BBR data.

Yeah, I counted the possessions wrong from last night's game (when I was factoring Lebron's minutes played I accidentally inserted 35.6 MP instead of 43.3 MP), so if you see that post regarding just last night's game on the previous page, that's wrong as well. I saw the BBR update this morning and corrected it in my data..

Bob, when you calculate possessions, do you multiply the FTA by .4 or .475? Im seeing differing results on internet searches

Re: The Lebron Thread (Pt. 2)
Miami with Lebron vs. Indiana 2013 (3 G, 120.9 MP):
110.5 ORtg
106.7 DRtg
+3.8 Net
Miami with Lebron vs. Memphis 2013 (2 G, 77.8 MP):
100.0 ORtg
113.9 DRtg
-13.9 Net
These teams gave Lebron trouble this year. Let's consider if Lebron had to play through the "superstar" teams.
Miami with Lebron vs. New York (3 G, 118.1 MP):
103.0 ORtg
115.2 DRtg
-12.2 Net
Miami with Lebron vs. OKC (2 G, 81.9 MP)
115.0 ORtg
98.7 DRtg
+16.3 Net
And both of those teams have worsened through injury (Chandler, Stoudemire, Westbrook) so these stats overrate how well they would match up against Miami.
Basically, it seems as though despite injury to the league's "big names" (barring Rose), it actually has no effect on Lebron's "ease" to the championship, and it actually might make it harder because the teams he wants to face are losing to teams he doesn't match up well against.

0.4, which is what BBR uses for single games. For their Seasonal Misc statistics section, I believe they use something else (counted possessions perhaps), as that data never matches up with their individual game logs (which match my data), as for game logs they use the mean of the estimated possessions of both teams.

Definitely. With Wade looking like he is, I think they'll beat the Pacers in 6, but the Grizzlies could definitely beat the Heat. They did a great job on Lebron in the RS, very reminiscent of what Dallas did in '11 against him. Memphis is the scariest team left in the playoffs for the Heat.
Kind of annoying that Lebron's going to have to face 3 straight great defensive teams (assuming they play the Pacers and Griz).

Are the Bulls really a great defense without Deng and Hinrich all series, I think not. Their seasons ranking would have tumbled without those 2 for a full year. Robinson is a horrid little defender, Boozer is also terrible, and because Butler is filling in for Deng, Marco Belinelli has to start, who is average at best, and I rate him as a bit below average.
Any time the Bulls have not put 3 quality defenders in their starting lineup this year, the quality and consistency of it has drastically fallen down. Nate Rob with any other two suspect defenders on the floor has meant real bad results for the Bulls. A good argument could be made for starting Gibson with Robinson, as those lineups did a lot better.
