Re: Monroe's trade value
I just can't envision trading players so young that solidify the future front court for many years while both show all-star potential.

I'd kinda like to see if GM can perfect his mid range shot b4 making a deal... it depends if we can surround him with solid help defenders... we could be looking at another L.A.

I highly doubt I can compare Monroe to LA. LaMarcus is far more athletic and a better defender/rim protector than Monroe is. Monroe in all reality is probably a center who needs a guy who can block shots and be a great help defender at the 4. I also thought Josh Smith was a perfect fit at the four next to Monroe.

Re: Monroe's trade value
Huh? Drummond is a perfect fit, not Smith. Before we drafted Dre we were ALL pulling for a big center who could defend the paint and block shots...it just so happens that we were lucky enough to get Dre, who fits all of the criteria.
Smith and Moose would be horrible offensively...
Keep Moose & Dre together, unless you can get a guy like LMA

Re: Monroe's trade value
Everything would be a lot easier if Monroe could shoot 3's.
Cow mentioned it earlier but there really aren't guys in play right now. Hindsight being 20/20 a Monroe for Harden deal would look pretty good right now.

Not sure Detroit was even in the running in any capacity. OKC got quite a bit back for him. A win-now player in Martin, a great prospect in Lamb, and Toronto's lottery pick for 2013.
I doubt Dumars would have been willing to give up Monroe and a first round pick for Harden (at that point).

Re: Monroe's trade value
I wouldn't trade Monroe for Lamb, Martin and the Raps pick.

Few would have given Monroe for Harden at the time. Harden/Drummond would have been a very interesting tandem.

Thats like waiting to sell a lottery ticket untill after the drawing. By the time your willing to give up on him his trade value will crash. The reason teams will trade you value is becase they still believe his jumper will improve.

Re: Monroe's trade value
Tough one. I like Deng a lot. Best suited to being the 3rd/4th best player on an elite team. Like an upgraded version of Tay, very solid 2-way player. 28 is a little older than I'd like and the fact he only has 1 yr remaining is a concern. IF he doesn't resign (for a reasonable amount) we're screwed. With an extension agreement in place I'd consider it...but probably pass. Love to have him, but not for Monroe.Pharaoh wrote:How about Deng for CV-DNP and Monroe?
Definitely no. If 28 was pushing it, then 29 is a very tough sell. Especially for a player who's been in decline for a few years now. 3 years ago I would have loved this trade. Now? Not so much.Iggy for CV-DNP and Monroe in a sign and trade?
Value is great. We'd have to add our 1st and probably a future 1st, but I don't think CP3 is going anywhere regardless.CP3 for CV-DNP, Monroe and Knight in a sign and trade?
Ugh.. even with good value taking a step back with more rebuilding pieces doesn't excite me. Offensively Parsons is a fit... but I know little about his defense. I'd at least be willing to entertain the idea, pending those fine details... but am inclined to pass giving up the best player and a bigman to boot for lesser pieces.Parsons, picks and another young prospect for Monroe?
Anderson was a great fit next to Dwight and Vasquez has impressed. And yet the inability to translate that talent into wins is a concern. I know Gordon was hurt and Davis just a rookie, but I'm a little skittish. I'd think about it though.Ryan Anderson and Vasquez for Monroe and CV-DNP?
I've wanted Afflack for a while now, that's no secret. Still, he's a role player and we're giving up a solid starting C. That "something" extra would have to be enticing...but I'd listen. If something crazy happened like they wound up with #3/4 and we're sitting at #9 and they wanted to trade down? Mebbe.Afflalo and something (Harris?) for Monroe and CV-DNP?
Again, squeamish about trading him for an unproven pick. I'd really want something tangible, not just the promise of potential. IF they wanted to severely overpay... mebbe.Could Philly and Phoenix want to start their rebuilds with Monroe?
Interesting. I like Batum. Big for small obviously means more value for us...depends on the something.Batum and something for Monroe and CV-DNP?
Not big on a the fit. I know some people like Evans, and as a player I like him too. Just not what I'm looking for.Evans and their pick for Monroe and CV-DNP in a sign and trade?
Mebbe. If you can sell it.Beal and their pick for Monroe?

Re: Monroe's trade value
I think Monroe needs to bring back two starters. So Beal and a Wizards pick would work. I'd still prefer a killer PF in return, but maybe Monroe becomes that guy.

That might work from a Pistons perspective but not from the Wiz.
Yeah, they value Beal that much.
As I said, in a previous post, Wall and Beal are pretty much untouchable as far as the Wiz are concerned.
I suspect it would take a true superstar to even get the Wiz to discuss it.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Re: Monroe's trade value
those trades are horrible for the wiz. Wall has more value than monroe, and beal has way more value than knight.
the wiz turned down getting harden for beal as crazy as that may seem. But beal is gonna be a monster anyways.

No chance the Wiz pull the trigger on that. They'd probably rather just keep Wall/Beal and pick someone at 8.
