Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.LIV "Lottery/Draft"Editi
So what are Noel's previous injuries? And how is it related to his Acl?
Also, getting pushed are basically the same knack on Drummond and concerns on anthony davis last year. But weightlifting proved them wrong, so i wouldnt rule out the possibility that Noel can improve his strength.
Also, Noel will be out for pretty much a year, so he'd have enough time to improve his strength and his knees.
Alothe idea of drafting Noel is to pair him up with Vucevic. Vuc would be the primary post defender and Noel would be the weak side defender.

A player that could be the next Greg Oden rarely playing basketball but for brief stretches for years at a time is the lowest floor a player can get unless he never comes back from injury. Of which, I bet he is probably glad he has that $10 mil insurance policy in case he never plays again.

From what I gather, he had a serious knee injury to the same knee he tore his ACL on. My main concern is not quickness or jumping ability of which he could regain, but most "Tall" players end up with greatly reduced Lateral movement and strength keeping opposing players off the block or post being it will be tough as a skinny guy when the much bigger NBA players put weight on those knees to get closer to the basket. To me, Noel won't have much of a career in the NBA when all is said and done.
Naturally, he could prove me wrong, but the odds are he will fail than surprise. Thus, too high of a risk selection. This franchise deserves more than another injury riddled high risk situation after all we have been through over the years.

Whoa... Theres not a player in this draft that has proven anything yet. Noel just holds the high potential of them all.
All good! Noel has the lowest floor of them all too being he is a player with serious knee issues who has no fundamental skills. He can just jump up and possibly block a few shots with a thin body who got pushed around by college players.
What? Lowest floor? His floor is a faster more athletic Marcus Camby. He has the highest floor in the draft.
his floor is a constantly injured player that barely see's the court, similar to Oden, is I believe is what he is saying.

not sure you can really make that statement regarding his knee. I can agree that it did not play a part in his ACL injury, but it could have ramifications on his knee for years to come. We just dont know.

I wouldnt say it was proven wrong on Davis, he moved to PF and cant play C for very long spurts because he is overpowered.

No, the growth plate injury will not have effect on his knee for years to come. Growth plates disappear after you stop growing, the injury is a complete non issue.

Have any doctors said this at all? Just curious

Have doctors said about this case specifically? I'm not sure. The scary thing about a growth plate injury in the knee is that it can cause one leg to outgrow the other. This isn't the case with Noel because we would know about it. That is why I say it is a non-issue at this point.

I think all issues around Noel need leaving until after the docs get a look. No one here is an expect, we have to trust Henny no matter what happens anyway

If we get #1 I think he trades him to the highest bidder in the top 9 and then take Burke hopefully.
If we get the #2 we take McLemore
If we get the #3 we take Burke
I see those 3 situations being the most realistic
I wouldn't be upset with Ben though, kid is a shooting/dunking machine lol

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.LIV "Lottery/Draft"Editi
I don't understand how people are so willing to dismiss symptoms of a guy being injury prone. We see it happen all the time where a player gets repeated injuries that seem unrelated other than that they keep happening to the same guy. Jameer is an example that we're all familiar with. Tyrus Thomas is an example that more closely fits Noel's body and game.
I understand if you want to say that yes, there is a risk, but his up-side makes the risk worth it; I would disagree (I think people are overrating his upside), but at least you would display an awareness of the realities at play. To simply deny that any kind of significant risk exists, on the other hand, seems like head-in-the-sand behavior IMO.

So Noel is injury prone because he has had two unrelated injuries? No one is saying there isn't a risk. We are simply saying the risk is not as bad as all the people throwing out hyperbole claim.

The way Noel's twig for legs just gave away so easily without anyone touching him has to be reason for concern that this guy has low durability.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.LIV "Lottery/Draft"Editi
I am very weary of drafting Noel.
Let's see what happens after The Lottery but would love to get #1 and trade down with a team that has #2 or #3 and needs a center to land Burke.
Not sure how much they can get but scheding a contract like Al Harrington would be nice.
