I'd rather go after Smith.

Lowry
DeRozan
Gay
Smith
Valanciunas

Would wreck ****. We'd be on par with Chicago sporting a healthy Rose and Indy. Maybe even better if we can get them all (DeRozan) to play defense. IMO it's the type of move that propels us to contention that Tim Leiweke talks about instead of this bs middling crap like Millsap or fantasy **** like tanking for wiggins or some miracle child top ten pick.

I agree with you... I think that Smith would add new dimensions to our team. If we're keeping Casey as coach, he'd be really happy with Smith blocking shots and getting steals, initiating the fast break. Our offence would, and should be running no matter what... that's what we should look to do. If we had an athlete like Smith at the 4, we'd have the most athletic 2/3/4 in the league... Lowry likes to push the pace, and JV is a great runner as a C. Then off the bench we have Amir who's a great runner at the 4/5 positions.

What we'd need to add to that group is shooters off the bench, no doubt. If we can accomplish this, we're contenders in the eastern conference.

The only way I see this happening is if ATL is willing to take Ross and one of our contracts (maybe Kleiza if not Bargnani or Fields) to make it happen. If ATL is going to rebuild, I think they'll be happy with Ross. I'm just not sure if Kleiza/Ross will be enough salary for us to take back Smooth. I think he'll command $12/13 mill. this offseason.

Gay/Lowry/Fields for Anderson/Lopez/J.Smith/#1-5
>Lopez expiring.. or just Gay/Lowry for Anderson/pick

Amnesty Bargnani
>Save 11mil

Burke/DeRozan/Clark?/Anderson/Val

Any trade that results in a Nets Lopez/Bargnani front court is a non-starter;
That would create the worst 4/5 rebounding tandem in the NBA.

Bargnani needs to go somewhere that parks him in a 4/5 rotation with guys who rebound like crazy, and that ain't the Nets.

I think his value is at an all time low;

But I think Clay Bennett how shown he is a cheap owner with zero intention of paying the tax, and with Ibaka's contract going from 2m to 12m I don't see Kevin Martin coming back, and I could see OKC rolling the dice and hoping Lamb can fill that off the bench scoring guard role.

Assuming there is no miracle Top 3 pick on the way, the Raptors need to target two players: Jennings and Josh Smith

Those are two players that come with a ton of baggage, but have a lot of raw talent. With Jennings, you have the DeRozan connection and a much needed change of scenery. Also, getting paid will probably allow him to play team basketball now that the chip on his shoulder is slightly more shallow. With Josh Smith, you get the ideal small ball 4.

To get either one, you're probably looking at a S&T involving some combination of Lowry/Ross/Bargnani/Pick. Since Josh Smith is a UFA, the price tag is probably a little less.

Jennings/DeRozan/Gay/Johnson/Valanciunas is a very young, athletic team. I could see that line-up competing in the Playoffs. Lowry/DeRozan/Gay/Smith/Valanciunas - same situation.

The only downside is you're locked in with that line-up. A lot of money would be tied up in a few players and that can be dangerous, especially given how unproven Demar and Gay both are.

The way this new ownership seems to view winning, I could see a big splash this off-season.

Rather keep Lowry. Jennings isn't that big of an upgrade. Smith would amazing. He can shoot. Not well but he has range out to the three. We could play him as a stretch 4 like Bargs but get way better defense and rebounding. He'd be our best player.

Interested in Smith, but not so much in Jennings. I don't think Raptor fans are ready for a offense based around Jennings, DeRozan and Gay.

yeah Jennings is fools gold. Josh Smith on the other hand would be an awesome pickup.

Lowry/Derozan/Gay/Smith/Val with Amir and some mid level PG off the bench is amazing

I wouldn't mind Jennings at the right price... I think he'd be a better fit than Lowry because he's a good shooter... he likes to spread the floor, and I think his passing game is underrated. With better teammates, he can avg close to 10 assists... he wont be forced to jack up shots to get his team going. I would love to have Josh Smith here. He'd be a nice compliment to this lineup as long as he knows he's the third option on offense, and the anchor on D. Our fast break game would be insane.

^lol i think you're confused with the s&t concept..

but anyways, if we're targeting Jennings i'd only want him off the bench ala jr smith and his 30mpg. a Jennings/DeRozan backcourt has absolutely no D!

How many miscellaneous first round picks from 2014 does it take to move up to #1, in your opinion? I'd say with Wiggins going 1st it's gonna take at least 3 (1 in the top 10, 1 in the top 15 and one in the top 20), along with maybe another established player.

I don't think anyone with #1 or #2 will even think about moving their picks that year.

The correct way to pair Jennings with Derozan is to trade Derozan to Milwaukee.

Jennings thinks he's much better than he really is. He's going to be a career loser... does not have the skillset to elevate a team, only his stats.

Do Not Want Jennings. I'd rather a rebuild than to continue to fill our roster with crap.

OT: Al Harrington Being shopped

Post#1079 » by Totem » Thu May 16, 2013 7:12 pm

According to Rotoworld/Hoopsworld

The Magic will allow Al Harrington to work out for other teams in early June.
Orlando has granted the veteran permission because he's just not in their future plans. he has two years left on his deal for approximately $15 million, but only half of his salary each season is guaranteed. The Magic will attempt to trade him during the offseason. May 16 - 9:41 AM

Can he be the next david west, bringing veteren presence to a team like the raptors.
