forget the haters, this was a AWESOME trade for jets

they are rebuilding, no point in giving out big money to a CB
horrible trade for the bucs, they have many other issues to address
and as for mr. "MEvis" good luck enjoying mediocrity the rest of your career in tb

I agree completely Pharmcat. The only disappointment in the Revis trade is that Idzik was not able to jettison some of the overpriced talent and free up some additional cap space. Unfortunately for season ticket holders, Idzik should entertain trading Cromartie while his value is high and there is an awfully deep class of cornerbacks. Several teams have the cap space and picks that could open up signing four or five leftover free agent veterans on one year deals. Protecting the fan base by holding on to players with value that are no longer young or won't be in a couple of years will only slow the process of the rebuild. If orchestrated correctly, and if Idzik is a capable talent evaluator, one year could potentially result in Bridgewater with some weapons and a acceptable defense for this ever increasing offensive league. For all of the talk around Mingo and his potential ceiling if he adds moves, weight and strength, I could understand Idzik going heavy on the offensive side of the ball and leaving Ryan to scheme with a patchwork defense this year with three or four rookies in the defensive backfield.

Honestly, I'd love to see them deal Cromartie and anything else. Hell, if someone would take Holmes, have at it.

NFL is like the NBA on steroids now, if you can't compete, tank your ass off and get as far under the cap as possible.

Only reason to hold onto Holmes is if he's untradable (probably) or you want to see what Sanchez looks like w/ a decent offensive line (if they draft O line help) and a few decent receivers (if Hill develops)

If I was Jets GM, I'd be all ears to deal anyone that gets us picks in next 2 drafts (not even this one) and sheds dollars. And I'd be praying to win about 4\5 games total the next two years.

Sal Paolantonio on ESPN Radio said Jets will go BPA at 9 and 13. I could see the O-Line getting bolstered at one of those spots considering the comment. Sounds like he's softening the outcry when the Jets don't take a QB or Pass Rusher necessarily.

Also mentioned that they've been fielding calls for the picks and could trade down, it's a very real option.

Jets release Tim Tebow
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutd ... 22442.html

Waste of money, time, and a pick. So that cut makes it Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy, David Garrard, and Geno Smith. Mark Sanchez's contract probably allows him to remain on the team. Geno Smith will stay on the team, even if not for talent, the Jets just used a 2nd round pick on him (hopefully, the Jets sit him on the sideline this season). That leaves McElroy and Garrard fighting for the 3rd spot. I like McElroy, but if Garrard has a good camp and preseason, the Jets will likely take the veteran.

Anyone know if these UDFA's have a shot? I'm sure the batch of receivers all have a shot, especially if they have any kind of separation speed.

Rontez Miles had a decent combine for a safety, but played Division II all throughout college. Dalton Freeman could've been a 6-7th round pick. I don't think anyone else on that list was on anyone's radar. I think the highest prospect UFA went to New Orleans in Chase Thomas.

Coples will be moving to OLB which explains the Richardson choice and not drafting an OLB decision...Not sure I like that, as a rookie he tallied 5.5 sacks...why change his spot when he was that successful as a rookie alone?

Good question! I've no answer for you. For him to consistently play LB, he'll have to drop 20-30 pounds and learn pass coverage in an offseason.

It'll be really upsetting if they set this kid back in his career just off of a lame duck coaching staff thinking they can fix what isn't broke.

Garrard retires...the QB race is down to four...which is still a lot but I think it's a lot more clear where the reps will go. There was an article about the Jets staff being enamored with Smith after his rookie week and expecting him to start from day one but that's ridiculous to me...That's definitely not enough to judge him by and I really think he'd benefit from at least half a season developing his game off the bench and learning off the sideline. That'd also give Sanchez an outside chance to boost his value so that we could move him.

Damn this board died. I hope some success this season will restore some life here.

Anyways, there really hasn't been news other than Tebow signing to the Pats, but the Jets did sign Kellen Winslow a couple of weeks ago.

If this could only be the Sr Winslow 30 years ago. But he can't possibly do any less than Keller did.
