2013 Lakers Draft Discussion

Post#1 » by Baby Bop » Thu May 16, 2013 4:52 am

the draft combine has begun, and the Lakers already have a couple prospects they're looking at...

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA 16m
The Los Angeles Lakers met with Nate Wolters and Adonis Thomas among other prospects on the first day of the combine.

anyone know anything about these kids?

Wolters is a white PG
Thomas is a SF

both projected in 2nd round atm.

who are you keeping an eye on and hoping the Lakers can pick up come draft time?

A second rounder isn't going to help this team.

Probably not, but I say Peyton Siva. Elite speed with the ball.

Yeah he's got speed but no jumper to save his life. At the NBA level he won't consistently get to the rim like he did in college. But don't get me wrong I'd take him cause we gotta start injecting this team with some youth, especially if it comes cheap.

Ya, I just want to see someone fast out here. All we see are scrub PGs running pick and roll and burning us, it'd be nice to try to develop our own. Chances are whoever we pick contributes nothing, but I'll gamble on speed.

I think Wolters will be take somewhere in the late first round. Siva would be nice to have, but there's a good chance he turns into the next Flynn.

I just want to see an athletic point guard, those few months we had sessions for were great, there have been some pretty good players picked in the 2nd round in the past who knows we might get lucky :D

Think they might go for a Euro-stash for the relaunch in 2014 and 2015?

Regardless, it would be nice to hit on a useable piece at any position.

As for the Lakers, their lone pick doesn’t come until midway through the second round (No. 48 overall). But, as usual, they’re supposedly willing to trade big man Pau Gasol in attempt to get younger. That may mean obtaining a pick, a younger player and a contract.

Again, all of this is just speculation at the moment, and it may result in nothing at the end. And goodness knows, these are the type of discussions among GMs and execs that will take place all the way through the draft.

Some of it is real, some of it not so much. Either way, there’s no doubting that the time of year to find the next big thing has officially arrived.

Does anyone think MCW looks like Morris clone ? (looks, skillset, size)

I don't think Seth Curry is going to slip to the 2nd round. Some team in round 1 is going to panic and take him mid round thinking they don't want to miss their chance to miss the next Stephen. Seth's game is totally different in my eyes from the time of seeing him at Liberty and Duke. He's a 6'2" shooting guard stuck in a point guards body.

But I think he's gonna be a better pro than he was a college player. NBA ball is about creating, college ball is robotic systematic ball and restrictive at times. He'll be OK....don't matter if he's a tweener or not.

No way Seth Curry makes it to the 1st round....most mocks don't have him even in the 2nd round right now

That being said,I'd be ecstatic if we could nab him at #48..... at that pick it's pretty hard to get an all around player so selecting a specialist (on an area where we definitely need help nontheless) is a smart move

Dump Meeks and his 1.5 mil salary(TO)....look for an upgrade via FA,if no one good is available, let Curry and Goudelock fight for the backup SG spot

I like the two Blue Devils: Seth Curry (already mentioned) and Ryan Kelly. Ryan Kelly is a 6'11 C/PF that has a soft touch around the rim but more importantly has great range (3pt shooter). I think both players are exactly what we need if keep the current core intact.

Haven't been around as much as usual around here the past 2 weeks so I don't know if this has been discussed already..

But a rumor floated around a few days ago that some teams want to get a lottery pick ..including us(presumably by using Pau)

After the Lottery,I think it's safe to say if the rumors were indeed true, our best bet is Washington and the #3 pick

After Wall came back, they were a darn good team and I think they are ready to get out of the lottery and make a strong push for the playoffs in the upcoming years(if everyone's healthy )...excluding the Cavs of course, but we won't get the #1 pick from them so they are not even worth mentioning

Get Ariza and #3 pick and it's fine by me.. we shed some salary,we get a high pick and the starting SF we need
