MY BIG PLAN

Post#1 » by retrolenny » Thu May 16, 2013 2:11 pm

1) Trade Stuck, Moose, & Singler for LA
2) resign Bynum
3) Sign Jack
4) Sign Allen
5) Sign Iggy

Jack/Bynum
Allen/Knight
Iggy/Bazz
LA/CV
Dre/Slava

THIS WOULD be a contender!!!

Interesting plan, but this gives us the worst bench in the league. Pretty bad offense too, would be worse than this year's Portland offense, which was in the bottom half of the league. And with LMA being 28, Tony Allen 30, and Iggy 29, it gives us maybe a three year window and uses all of our cap space. Not sure we'd end up better than a 4th or 5th seed.

I would be all for that trade for LMA. But, I don't believe he's on the market. I remember Portland's management stating that they wanted to give it another year before they would even entertain any offers for him.

I just read an article on Tony Allen, and how he ended up in Memphis, because of a coach he looked at like a father, and his connection with Chris Wallace. He went on to talk about how much he loved the city, how he gained custody of his daughter while here, and got her into a nice school.

Basically, what I'm getting at, Detroit would have to ridiculously overpay TA to leave Memphis. Watching their close out game against OKC last night, anyone could see how important he is to this team. He wants to stay, and I have to believe they want to resign him.

Jarrett Jack would be little more than a stop-gap PG. But, he's not a bad choice, given the current pool available. How many years, at what price?

I may be in the minority, but I'm not a fan of going after Igoudala. His game depends on his athleticism, and I believe it was beginning to slip a touch this season, and any contract with him is going to for four years, where you might not get much those last two. IMHO, he's not a max contract player, but that's the kind of money it will take to get him to Detroit.

I like the Shabazz draft pick. Most people hate him, I think he can fit with what Detroit's doing quite well.

So, sorry, I punched a few holes in your "Big Plan", but it's not awful.

Good points all around. Jack is what? 30 right now?

The frontcourt bench would be atrocious with CV and Slava being primary backups. But, in his plan Jerebko apparently just falls of the face of the planet with Khris Middleton.
