Is Carmelo Anthony the Tony Romo of the NBA?
Romo and Melo seem to have a lot in common. Both players puts up good regular season numbers but can never get it done in big games in the playoffs. They are often extremely streaky and inconsistent and constantly makes bad decisions in pressure games and situations. The team fanbases for both players always makes excuses for their failures. Anybody else see the parallel between the two in their respective sports?

I'm a very casual football fan at best so correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding is that Romo looks great by basic and advanced football stats while Melo only looks great in the former.
Abolish the draft. Abolish the rookie scale. Make teams try to win.

Prime T-mac would not come up short like Melo has with a roster like this:
Felton,Prigs,Kidd
T-mac,JR
Shump?, Novak
Kmart,Amare
Chandler

Hasn't Melo made a conference finals though? Romo has only won one playoff game. Melo has won a few playoff series now.
But there are some valid comparisons. Both put up big #s but aren't really comparable to the best of the best(Melo is no Lebron/Durant, Romo is no Manning/Brady). Both play in big markets for franchises with lots of history but with teams that tend to get overrated/overhyped by the media.

Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

The thing is Melo has just been bad in the playoffs, whereas Romo has visibly choked (botched snap), or choked in the games that determined going into the playoffs (costly interceptions). I don't think Melo is a choker, he's actually one of the most clutch players. He just isn't good enough by himself.

Give Melo Westbrook ir Wade and he's in discussion of being a top 3 player.

I Agree, he never had a star to help him like other guys have. When Jr Smith is your 2nd best player that's a problem

Wrong. He had great teams in Denver and his team in New York is hardly bad. You are not ranked top 5 in offense by having a bad team and lets not act like Melo is the only reason the Knicks are ranked top 5 in offense cause he is not.
Melo has had plenty of good teams. He just isn't that great. Its a fact. His playoff numbers are god awful and his RS numbers are underwhelming as well considering his hype and all this nonsense about him being the best pure scorer.

Prime T-Mac is miles better than Melo.... Sure Chandler has been god awful but Felton has been great. Prigs has been good if he actually got minutes. Shump has been good. Lets not act like Melo has actually showed up in the playoffs. He has been terrible on both ends of the floor. He and his buddy Earl.

That is a big insult to Tebow. Tebow played in a HS game with a freaking broken bone in his leg. Tebow may not have the skills, but he has the heart and the passion. He would never not play when he's medically cleared. If Rose had Tim Tebow's heart, Chicago may be moving on instead of Miami.

McGrady always elevated his game in the playoffs. T-Mac was more of a case of terrible timing and terrible luck.

Three players have showed up this series, you're not winning a series when only three players show. I don't care if T-Mac is better or Melo is better, T-Mac would've still lost because players are missing shots, are injured & we're playing a mundane offense.
And Melo might have stunk it up in the Celtics series but he stepped up when needed so enough of this pile on Melo crap.

Big Cowboys fan, and the comparisons are pretty funny. I will say tho that Romo had by far one of the worst O-lines in the league last year. Maybe the worst, but I wouldn't argue if you said the 2nd worst. Without Romo that team wins 4 games if that. He has a bad rep because he has a star on his helmet. If he played for the Panthers people around the country would love the guy. His December stats and 4th quarters stats are one of the best in NFL history. Romo has never had a dominant Defense on his team, and never had a good O-line...both of those win championships. Not just QB's. Think of previous superbowl champs and tell me one who doesn't have a great O-line or dominant D.
The last thing, I love is people who say he is overhyped by media....have you ever watched the media talk about him. Think about it like this. How do you feel about Romo? You feel that way because media persuades the opinion of most sports fans. My guess is you think Romo is overated and chokes alot. My next guess is you don't watch him play much, so in other words the media doesn't like him that much...how does that make him overated?

Re: Is Carmelo Anthony the Tony Romo of the NBA?
Romo is by far the most underrated player in the NFL. Not enough people appreciate how trash that entire Cowboys roster is outside of Ware, Carr, Romo, Bryant, Witten, and Smith. That's a 3 win team if you put Matt Ryan at QB on that team. No running game, trash defense, and Romo having to carry that team. No QB besides Peyton Manning, A-Rod, Brees, Big Ben, and Eli have as much pressure to carry their team as Romo does. And Romo gets chased by a lynch mob just because he's a top 10 QB but not top 5 and can't carry a team because every single possession he faces 2nd and 3rd and long because of his garbage running game created by his moron GM/Owner.
So I guess Romo would be Zach Randolph or I guess CP3. A player completely unappreciated his entire career and then becomes lauded once he actually gets real players around him. Not a coincidence that the one year that Dallas wasn't in the bottom half of the league in rushing was the one year Romo actually got a playoff win.
Romo is significantly better at football than Melo is at basketball. Melo would be more like Matt Ryan or Tom Brady. Great numbers until the playoff comes and can't win anything unless you surround him with an elite defense.
