Here's what worries me from ESPN:

...one-dimensional player... Muhammad's not an elite defender or a great rebounder and doesn't really get others involved, but he's a guy who can get you 20 points a night.

Time will tell the tale on Bazz

Either he takes it personally that he'll fall to the mid/late Lotto and applies himself to succeeding in the NBA... or he flakes out and ends up being one of those "remember when he was great in high school" players

It's up to Bazz IMO. I think he has certain tools that are too good to ignore, but if his attitude and his athletic testing let him down then such is life... we move on and pick someone else.

This is why franchises spend what they spend on scouting and testing... we need to get this pick right!

Here's hoping we do

We all know this already. What seems to be underrated about Shabazz is his ability to get to the FT line(and making those FTs) in every game. He is not just a chucker. He, actually, attacks the basket relentlessly.

Shabazz's flaws are obvious and I really dislike some of those flaws(no team mentality? tunnel vision? suspect defense? SG/SF tweener?). And yeah...where he goes from here is all on him(and his father?). He coule be a Nick Young or he could be a game changer.

Shabazz would probably be the BPA at #7.

I don't agree with either of these points. 20 is still young. He is one year older than previously thought. I am ok with that. I think he can be athletic enough but at 6'6" I think he can gaurd SFs if need be in a small line-up allah Paul Pierce who is 6'6". I am hoping Shabazz can be another PP and i'd be happy. He's a perfect fit for us. He address our biggest need which is primeter scoring.

Pick apart his game all you want- I love this kids competitiveness, effort and attitude. He's not going to shy away from the big moment, and would probably get into a fist fight with Villanueva before training camp commenced because Shabazz would be riding his ass for being lazy.

And really, how many "elite" shooting guards are there in the NBA that he would be forced to guard? Kobe and Wade? Both on the tail ends of their careers, Kobe might never even be Kobe again. Harden, sure, but he's in the west. Who else?

He said himself he's a SG. He's 6-6, 220lb. Prototypical SG size and he's a great shooter. How is he not a SG?

I am intrigued with Shabazz saying hes gonna play the 2 in the pros.

I have maintained all along that a weakness in his game right now in his ability to go 1 on 1 will get better, when reporters asked him who he patterns his game after he mentioned he mimics footwork which is such an advanced answer for a 20 year old. It further backed up my belief.

He currently shoots the lights out & excels both off the ball & in P&R which fits us perfectly. Plus his post game is very good which allows us to use him in limited post iso's as well. Thats a game changer in mismatches & even against other 2's because of Shabazz's size.

From the Draft Camp yesterday...

The NBA also charted shooting drills on Thursday. Here was the leaderboard:

Top shooters: Mike Muscala (76 percent), Tony Snell (74 percent), Reggie Bullock and Grant Jerrett (72 percent), Allen Crabbe (70 percent).

Worst shooters : Myck Kabongo (32 percent), Shabazz Muhammad (36 percent), Andre Roberson (42 percent)

Vincent Ellis ‏@Vincent_Ellis56 2h
RT @JayBilas: Shabazz Muhammad measures under 6-5 (w/o shoes) at Draft Combine. Ben Howland's offense blamed for Muhammad's lack of height.

More from the combine around measurements:

Small forwards
As far as small forwards go, Otto Porter was big, measuring 6-7.5 in socks and 6-8.5 in shoes. He has a very long 7-1.5 wing.

Of notable concern, Shabazz Muhammad was much smaller, measuring just 6-4.75 in socks and 6-6.25 in shoes. He does have a 6-11 wingspan. However, another general manager seemed very troubled by this revelation.

"It's a problem. If you're on the fence about him, this could push you off," the GM said. "As a shot-creator, size matters. Especially with the length of the new wave of small forwards like Paul George. His wingspan helps, but only if he plays defense. And he doesn't."

As a comparison, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist measured 6-7.5 in shoes with a 7-foot wingspan.

on the nervous list, 1 & 2 are irrelevant.

I never considered the Paul Pierce comparison. Pierce's rookie line was 16PPG 44% FG, 41% 3pt, 2.4 assists, 6.4 rebounds on a 23% usage rate.

I could see Shabazz putting up similar numbers as a rookie. His rebounding would probably be lower, considering he would have to compete to get boards from not only the other team, but from Moose and Dre.

But, I'm not downplaying how damn good Pierce has been over his career. He came into the league as a gunner, and expanded his entire game. Excellent footwork, leadership, marksman shooting, and developed a great all-around game, mostly out of necessity because he was on some truly awful Celtics teams until the "Big 3" trade happened.

I won't go as far to say that Shabazz could be a future Paul Pierce, but I think he's well worth the risk with the 7th pick in this draft.

Yes, you can catch his interviews on Draft Express' youtube channel. He implicitly said "I think I'm a 2 in the NBA", then said part of his shooting struggles was that they lumped him in with the small forwards for the drills.

And Paul Pierce isn't a small forward...and Ben Wallace wasn't a center...and Dwyane Wade isn't a shooting guard.

Yeah, a player's height isn't the ultimate factor in a players position or ability.

Yes he did & it is super intriguing based on his size & ability to post up guys alone.

Has there ever been a player stuck between a 2 and a 3? I've never seen it as an issue in the NBA. Stuck players are between the 1/2 and 3/4. Our best perimeter defender would be our 3. They guard the best 2/3. Shabazz playing theb2 makes us so dangerous.

I would not be upset with picking Shabazz.

I just worry that there wouldn't be much of a dropoff between taking him veresu taking a guy like KCP, Crabbe, Rice or Hardaway later.
