Deron wouldn't have resigned with GS. That trade is far fetched.

What we should have done, after Howard pulled that dumb move, is KEPT OUR PICK.

We could have flipped it for better value than garbage ass Wallace, or drafted Barnes.

There is nothing 20/20 and all that about this. I knew at the time the deal with Portland was made that King had just did something moronic.

Which is why we only get an injured Curry and one draft pick. At the time, we would have all destroyed King for trading Deron for such little value.

I totally agree with you about keeping our pick with regards to Howard, that's been discussed thoroughly on here...what I meant about the benefits of hindsight is trading Deron for Curry. I'm one of Deron's biggest supporters, but Curry is at the very least equal to him (imo, I don't see how he's not better actually) with tremendous upside and is very young. And everyone saw this kind of potential with Curry, it was just his ankles being a major source of concern. But ankle injuries actually derailed Deron's season in 2013 more than it did Curry's, go figure.

Only because we saw how LA imploded and how big of a cancer Howard was, and even how physically limited he was for most of the season, I don't know how much he improves us. So I'm imagining that we have him instead of Lopez...are we really contenders? What stops him from imploding our locker room as well? And does he really propel us to Miami's level? They'd still destroy us, imo. But with Curry's upside, and room for adding someone like Harden AND Howard, THAT could be a legitimate contender that could challenge Miami.

a team that gets Howard MUST have a stretch 4.... howard can't play with another inside 4... really shocked it couldn't work with Pau but also not entirely surprised... think two egos weren't working.... Bynum can play with Gasol and vice versa... but not Howard....

LOL imagine Howard and Evans??? hilarious....

Case COULD be said that we go after Batum as a RFA? or Korver a UFA? perhaps a deal for Gay could've been swung? or, actually using our lotto pick?

Tbh, I thought about that a few times recently if the Knicks would ever do something like that.

But they'd lose a solid amount of their diehards if they did something like that.

I'm sure most people would say Melo > Lopez and JJ's contract would make it a non-starter. It would be pretty hilarious though to watch us give our two emotionless players for two of the Knicks more passionate players. I guarantee the Brooklyn would go crazy if it happened though, just from the perspective that pairing D-Will and Melo would be pretty sick combo if the offense is ran correctly.

All in all, I strongly doubt NYK thinks of doing something like this unless they somehow flame out badly tonight and management just decides to scrap it and rebuild.

But again, with JJ's contract they wouldn't be able to rebuild effectively, which is why it goes from an interesting possibility to an near definite no.

that trade would never work... but...

Lopez/Hump/pick for melo would.

I was just going to reply to NyCe saying how this was my first thought, but I would have exactly zero desire to pair JJ with a Deron/Melo combo, I think his style mixed with his obvious decline or limited ability to play through inevitable injury would be atrocious with those two.

I'd wonder if there's any chance Washington would do Nene/Ariza for JJ/1st? I can't fathom any other team even considering taking on JJ for anything at all, save the Knix themselves for Amar'e and that just makes my already unrealistic idea even more so.

I really think it's got to be a PF or quality 6th man 2 guard.

I'm more interested in trying to get a Nene/Boozer type player that will allow Lopez to switch up his game on both ends of the floor.

I also think Wallace should be moved to the bench for next season and we draft a SF to start in his place.

I don't think we're making any trades with the Knicks and I don't think we're trading JJ anytime soon. JJ had his ups and downs this season... but the guy is definitely here to stay. We need to spark a fire under his ass and get him playing hard every game. We need a new coach who will utilize him off more catch-and-shoot scenarios (versus ISO plays) and who will bench his ass if he underperforms.

If Teletovic was given a chance I think the Nets are in the second round. They so badly needed a guy to space the floor yet never gave him a chance. It's not like Reggie was dominating the glass either. Noah and Boozer killed us on the glass. At least some more room in the paint would have help our offense as D-Will and Lopez had zero room to operate. Just a flat out horrible coaching job by PJ.

He got a chance. he didint get tons of opportunites but he got 8 games with consistent minutes. he didnt shoot it well from 3 at all and stuggled in general shooting the ball. even if he didint defend well or move the ball and turn it over it wouldnt have mattered if he was knocking down 3's. which he simply wasnt doing. if he did, he might have got some burn in the playoffs. not saying its fair or that he was given a huge opportuntiy, but to say he was given no chance is off base

8 games? Really? You can't call that a shot. And I was mainly referring to the playoffs. Still he was a transitioning player coming from overseas so it was gonna take time which he never got. He was certainly inconsistent with his shot but that easily could have been due to inconsistent minutes. Shooters need to shoot not play once a week for 5 minutes. Evans was terrible in the playoffs and with the Bulls crowding the paint it boggles my mind that Tele never even got up off the bench.

The lack of shooters clogged the paint and D-Will and Lopez had no room to operate. The lack of adjustments is why PJ is no longer coach. He was flatout out coached by a mile.

We can't move JJ because his contract is too much for any other team.

There are plenty of other guys who can do what JJ has done, especially in comparison to the effort he gave this season.

I hope this year was just an anomaly and not the norm for him for the rest of his contract. Otherwise, it could be pretty bad for him and for us.

8 games is 10% of the season. its not alot but it also isnt nothing. As a reserve player you need to always be ready and take advantages of the opportunities you get -- no matter how big or how small. Tele didint do that last year. it is as simple as that.

dont get that confued with me writing him off. i think he will find his way into the rotation at some point in the future, and his shot will start falling and be consistent as it was in europe. My point was simply, he did get a shot to show what he could do, and failed to take advantage. his situation was not at all similar to say toko.

yea i agree with all that... although im not sure how realistic it is that we find a starting SF at pick #22.

I think we might be able to find that guy in free agency though. I like the idea of a wallace/Evans/Blatche second unit. all 3 of those guys @ 20mpg could give you a nice surge of energy off the bench.

Let's pile on to that Gerald Wallace deal! What were they thinking? The 4 years and $40 Million was non-too-bright either! I think going after Dwight Howard or Josh Smith is impossible at this stage. Not enough assets to convince someone to move them but Paul Milsap is a very real possibility. He is a total team guy! Will be a better pick and roll partner for Deron than Brook is and can hit open jump shots spreading the floor for our big three. He is also a very active defender and rebounder. This would of course push Reggie into the 10 minute per night role he belongs in. Good news is Utah is going to loose him for nothing so a #1 and Humps expiring deal could get a trade done either this summer or mid year depending on the collective bargaining rules. We may have to throw in MB but he will never get time as long as JJ is here anyway. Toss in a few outside shooters and this team should roll!

Can't sign and trade for a player with only Humphries and Marshon Brooks and picks going out. Trade needs more salary in order to get under the threshold.

Would think the most likely candidates to be picked up on draft night/in the offseason are:

1.Danny Granger
2. Paul Pierce
3. Carlos Boozer
4. Kevin Garnett
5. Eric Gordon
6. Nene
7. Wilson Chandler
8. Ersan Ilyasova
9. Salmons or Thornton/Thompson/6xth to 8th pick salary dump for HBAP/Euro(s) deal
10. Gortat/Dudley/Frye or Beasley for HBAP type of deal.

The outside shot but somewhat to very possible guys:

1. Pau Gasol
2. LaMarcus Aldridge
3. Kevin Love
4. Blake Griffin
5. Chris Bosh

would like: salmons/thornton packages, chandler

would HATE: Ilyasova

would not like: Pierce - just think he is done and would disappoint like gerald has, gordon

cant wait til the draft and FA. really interested to see what we add

^^don't get your hopes up.

Humphries and Brooks are the only cards that King has left to play, both of whom were devalued by the garbage coaching decisions made this season to give them erratic minutes instead of trying to maximize their value for a future trade.

I don't see anything happening to push this mediocre team over the hump

3 1st round picks, possible of 4 or 5 depending on draft night.

Mirza

Bogs

Ty Taylor

Toko

That other Euro

$3 mill cash

Ability to absorb 25% extra in long term salary.

But the reason I mainly agree with you is Billy's at the helm. Great GM's and opportunistic GM's alike would turn that package into a windfall, but with Billy, I am not confident outside of spitball forum talk.

That said, most of the guys on my 1 through 10 list would be an overpay to give multiple picks, top Euros and absorb salary for and although they would be big improvements talent wise, they have their own question marks, who knows if they fit in general with this roster and the immovable Joe Johnson is an awful fit with nearly anyone that could be an addition, let alone with the current roster.

Sigh...
