Exactly. I've always said that any wing in NBA history would've played second fiddle to peak Shaq. And there's no shame in that. Issue is that only Kobe has to deal with the second banana and robin comparisons.

If 24-30 year old Jordan had played with Shaq from '98-'04, you're looking at 8 straight titles. All this nonsense about "oh, they couldn't play together" is just that: nonsense. It's Kobe fans trying to act like Kobe and MJ are the exact same person. As long as they were winning, Jordan wouldn't care much what Shaq did, how many donuts he ate etc.

They would likely split FMVP's 4-3-ish, edge to Jordan because he could outplay Shaq in a given series in more of those years from '98-'04 than Shaq could outplay him (Shaq could really only outplay MJ from '00-'02 or '03). Jordan would average like 32 pts/7 reb/8 ast/3 stl/1+ blk/54% FG/64% TS over that span.

or
The 28 year old Jordan, the age Jordan was when he first won a title?

Both Kobe and Jordan were much more selfish when they were 22 than when they were 29.

And we've all seen Jordan AVERAGE 41 in the finals before.

Post-merger, Jordan (pre-retirement) was by far the most dominant SG ever in the postseason. One of the most dominant players at any position

Jordan is the only player post-merger to drop 50 in the finals. He's the only player period to drop 50 in back to back playoff games.

Jordan was so competetive he wouldn't have anyone allowed to be the Number1 player over him. NEVER! Shaq would have had the choice to accept being No.2 or be out.

What if Duncan had played with Hakeem? Even more dominant IMO. With that duo, I would just front Shaq and collapse on Jordan when he drives.

It depends on the teams they play in the finals. If Shaq faces easier competition in the C spot, like in the MVPs he won (specially against NJN), it's impossible for him not to be FMVP. Dude would average 40-13 or something like that.

Great. When did I say Jordan never put up godly number in the finals? I'm just pointing out it's ridiculous to say Shaq couldn't win the FMVP when he himself averaged close to 40 along with 16-17 rebounds per game

Wonder if Jordan Jockers understand that Kobe is talking about when they both first entered the NBA? No, a 28 year old prime MJ would not be be teammates with Shaq. Rather a 21 year old rookie that know one knows about. There's no chance a young rookie MJ would get the green light to shoot when this Laker team was solely built for Shaq's needs and abilities. Shaq would be the main guy whether it's MJ,Kobe,Bird,Magic,Oscar or West being drafted to this Laker team. Shaq would be the "man" and the same old dominant center that won 3 straight FMVP's, regardless of who is on the team.

Except Kobe was 19-25 year old during 98'-04', so if they switch places. apples & oranges

And again, Shaq would still be FMVP against Indy, Philly, Nets, due to mismatches. Honestly FMVP is overrated. We should have a playoff MVP instead.

Peak shaq is as dominant as anyone and in the scope of of 4-7 games anything can happen. Now, if you were to say Shaq would never win the season MVP over Jordan (if they were on the same team), then maybe I'd be closer to agreeing with you

Shaq had a monopoly on the team cause Kobe wasn't even close to being ready yet.

Jordan was 28/6/6 on 52% shooting, 2 steals & a block as a rookie. He was a superstar from day 1.

By the end of the year they'd be 1a & 1b, at the very least. By year 2, it'd be obvious that Jordan is the better player.
