Re: JJ not likely to resign with Bucks
I love J.J. Redick.
While he could end up returning, it might not be the best idea to have J.J. and Afflalo on contracts given this team's situation. On top of that, this team might take a SG in The Draft.
Right now, I'd say he goes to a contender but either way, this trade is really bad for Milwaukee if they let him walk.

Re: JJ not likely to resign with Bucks
I do not think that resigning him for a front-loaded contract would be helpful.
He will make money for the next 2 years and then when Orlando Magic have the oppurtinity to be a contender after 2 years, he will be aged and his salary will be one of the lowest in the team.
I do not think that you can get performance from an aged player with a relatively low contract. No motivation for him to be successful.
If you can trade Afflalo for young talents or first rounders and you can sign him for 3year/18M deal with team option, it would be fine.

More like we got one player for a loan. Beno won't be back and Lamb is marginal at best.

Re: JJ not likely to resign with Bucks
So trading JJ away to get a young player was the plan all along. We trade him and he will come back and we can negotiate a low salary and then trade away AA. ???? We did all that to make sure he takes a lower salary?
Reading this thread makes me think it's not in the plan to trade AA, because if it were it doesn't seem that they would have ever traded away JJ knowing this. I can't see how this makes sense to any of you, lol. Anything is possible though.

I think a Texas team is very likely since JJ now has a home in Austin. Would love to see him on either San Antonio or Houston, for that matter.
why does he have a house in austin?

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.
"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

Why is it G-Heel? AA has value, JJ will offer similar, coming off the bench, money/cap room isn't as important for us the next couple of seasons especially if we trade AA and Davis. A Veteran leader with a front loaded contract, fan favourite who will sell jerseys...worth it to me, rebuilding is all good, you gotta give fans a reason to show up as well, especially if we tank again

So if we trade AA and somehow get JJ, you think he would be a backup? JJ will turn down other teams' offers to come to a rebuilding team and not even start?
Am i not reading you all right? Just for the sake of discussion, people seem to accept he won't be here unless AA is traded so he will be a 6th man only if AA is still here. So y'all really think he would come back for cheap on a losing team and play behind a rookie/young guy? Why would he do that? really?

One, I doubt JJ even wants to come back, unless we outbid everyone else for him. He probably wants to go to a contender.
Two, he probably demands more than 6 mil a year and that's too much. Magic needs capspace to attract free agents next season or the one after that.
I see no reason to bring JJ back, unless to sell more tickets. But does JJ really help sell more tickets? Serious question. I've never heard anyone said they're buying Magic tickets to go see JJ. And how many jerseys does he actually sell? Is there a place to see how many jerseys Magic sold before and after trading JJ?

Re: JJ not likely to resign with Bucks
I'd rather keep AA. He is on better deal than Redick is about to sign, he is more athletic and a better defender. AA is not as good as a shooter as JJ is, but he is a better ball handler. On that note, AA shot really bad this season, but I think he will improve this season and then we gon' have one less reason to sign him. I agree with G-Heel and think JJ isnt coming back really. Henny didnt try to sign a new deal for a reason...

Considering Milwaukee's situation, it wouldn't be wise for Redick to stay there in the first place. Jennings and Ellis are what Marbury and Francis were to the Knicks 6yrs ago. Two PGs' who need the ball in their hands to be effective while shuttin out everyone else on offense. Meaning no ball movement and limited contributions from their teammates. If anything, the Bucks need to rebuild their backcourt. Jennings and Ellis are good players who are better suited for 6th Man roles.

SD2042,
Milwaukee has a lot of work they need to do.
The problem with letting J.J. Redick walk is now Milwaukee has traded a good young player in Tobias Harris for a rental in J.J. Redick.

While it would be fun, I doubt the FO wants to give out mid-level contracts this off-season. And as a JJ fan, I hope he leaves Milwaukee.

Guys, we can't trade him to the Bucks twice ya know.
As a Bucks fan, as long as Hambone is our GM I cannot definitively say that we wouldn't trade for him again. After all, Herb Kohl most likely views JJ as the key ingredient that locked up our goal of the 8th seed...smh

It's a likely scenario that will happen to Redick and the Bucks. The Bucks top brass consist of idiots who seem incapable of obtaining talent and recognizing talent when they have it. Unless the Bucks were to have the best offseason in acquiring talent on their roster, Redick walks to another team in the offseason.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the bucks throw an amount of money JJ couldn't refuse just so that they didn't trade Harris for nothing. Also, I know nothing about their cap situation so my opinion on this really doesn't matter.

America version of the Raptors.
I was pretty puzzled at the trade when it first went down. I know quite a few teams were offering a 1st. When we didn't get one, I was scratching my head. I was like, uh, so they are getting who? Boy was I wrong.
On behalf of all Magic fans,
Thank you Henny!

It's better for the Bucks to count their losses than overpay for JJ, he's not the missing piece they need.
