Remember the Alonzo Mourning Heat teams? I used to love those Heat teams.
The Miami Heat in the late 90s/early 00s were a very good, powerhouse team in the East. With Alozno Mourning at his Peak, Tim Hardaway, Jamal Mashburn. Role players like PJ Brown, Dan majerle, Voshon Lenard, Terry Porter, Anthony Carter.
Zo was arguably the best defender in the NBA at that time. DPOY in 99 and 00. Pat Riley was one of the 2 best coaches with Phil Jackson. And in 99, 00 the East was relatively weak. Miller and Ewing were past their peaks with the Pacers and Knicks.
It seems like those Heat teams should've definitely made the finals at least once. Yet they always lost to the Knicks. They could never get by NY.

90's Was Michaels territory. No one was going to go to the finals except them.
The 2000's well there were teams that were just better.
The Pacers, Nets, Sixer and Cavs were better than the Heat. It wasnt until they got Wade and the next year that they traded for shaq that they were even considered contenders.
