2013 Draft Lottery: Tuesday 8:30PM

Conspiracy theories go here.

Chances:

The team with the best odds has won the lottery just 2 times in 22 years.

Last time the Pistons had the first overall pick (1970) they got Bob Lanier.

Playing the Ford lotto simulator, Washington moves up a heckuva lot and I had to do it 30+ times to get Detroit to get 1st overall.

I don't like the 25% chance we drop back to 8th either.

I'll predict Orlando - Phoenix - Charlotte

Also I believe Detroit and Washington have the same chances to win the lottery the 7th and 8th lotto combo's are totaled and then divided evenly between us.

I just played it and the first time we end up 8th taking Shabazz.

In Ford's notes on Shabazz he says "one dimensional player...but a guy who get you 20 pts a night.".

Considering there were only 9 players in the league this year to score 20 pts or more, if we can get one with the 7th or 8th pick, I'll take it.

Fortunately, because Shabazz's stock is going down, there's a good chance he would still be there at 8 if we end up moving back.

We got all of our luck, both good and bad in 2003.

A guy that just gets you 20 points a night without providing anything else is useless imo. Those are the type of players that put up numbers but never get anywhere. Ben Gordon comes to mind.

BUT, with that said, my hope is that if we draft Shabazz he will improve his defense, ball handling and rebound the basketball as well. If he ever gets to 20/5/2 efficiently within the flow of the offense, I would be very happy.

Does winning the lotto mean much of anything this year?

I actually don't want to win the lottery this year.

The only good thing is that there is no clear-cut 1st overall pick. So we don't have to draft Sam Bowie or Kwame Brown. I expect Dumars to pick McLemore or Burke if he gets a top 3 pick.

Personally I'd love to see us get #1... take McLemore and smile all night long!

If we get #2 it's the same scenario...

If we get #3 it's a bit of a drama - do you take Olapido assuming Noel and McLemore went 1 and 2? I guess we'd have to - though I could see Joe taking Porter

Bazz does seem like the obvious choice.... but making the obvious pick doesn't mean much. Joe and his boys need to make the right pick - even if it's unpopular at the time.

And that could mean trading up, trading down, trading out of the Draft altogether... only they know what trades will get offered

Looking forward to this. Hopefully we will move up into the top 3. I'd guess that Orlando will win it, to compensate them for losing Dwight like what they did with the Pelicans when CP3 left. Or maybe Charlotte will finally win the lottery, they sure as hell need all the help they can get.

Of course we'd love to have #1 any year. If we got it this year we could trade Noel and move down, still get McLemore or Porter, and get some other asset.

So what your saying is that there IS a chance?

I'm with Big lip on this , winning #1 any year is money. and if we do, we trade down(not far) for more assets, and get the best bang for our buck.

it would suck that this is the year we'd win

It's hard to move back one spot. I would just take McLemore at 1 if we got it unless someone really wants Noels but with his ACL tear, I don't see it happen.

Hopefully stern throws us a bone and rigs it for us this year. We deserve a top 2 pick.

Yeah if we move up I only want to go to #1 to get Noel & then hold him hostage for the highest bidder.

I'd take Shabazz easily, heck i'd take Oladipo who cant even shoot over McLemore.

I love Otto Porter but he isnt the right fit for us, hes gonna be a great pro though.

If we win #1, our trading options are limited to those that really want Noel. But looking at Charlotte, Orlando, Washington, Cleveland - they can all use McLemore, Oladipo or Porter, so we may not have that much leverage. They all also know we really don't need Noel, so that gives us even less leverage. And we shouldn't drop any lower so that we'd miss out on McLemore, Oladipo or Porter. As much as I love trades (real or fantasized), we'd probably take McLemore and call it a day.
