[Hypothetical Losers Bracket]
Thunder Vs Warriors
Knicks Vs Bulls
Winner Vs Winner
Champion
Injuries still apply and regular fortmat and rules for home court advantage.Who gets to be the biggest loser?
I don't think the warriors could frustrate Durant like the Grizzlies did so I think OKC pulls out the win in 6.I see the Bulls beating the Knicks in relatively the same way Indy did and I see the Thibs coaching circles around Brooks and the Bulls winning in 6.

I think K Mart and Durant would be able to get Bogut in foul trouble and theyre a vastly different team defensively when they have to go small or play Ezeli. Durant wasn't exposed, that series just confirmed what we already knew.
One great player wont beat a GREAT defensive team just like Bron vs Cavs or more Melo Vs Pacers.Durant could get his own against Barnes and co and would get way more transition opportunities this series than he would Vs the Grizz.

Thunder would break the Warriors in half with a short 5 game series. Injured David Lee, injured Steph Curry, Bogut knees acting up again, Dubs are made out of glass.
Thunder 1st
Knicks 2nd
other teams get tooled

OKC wouldn't have the support to stop the warriors game...Knicks meanwhile were proved to be very easy to stop in the end.
warriors
thunder
knicks
bulls

Steph Curry is hurt, his hurt glass ankle already stops his game and they have Thabo for Thompson. Barnes would also get fouled out trying to stick with Durant, OKC in 5 games.

Re: [Hypothetical Losers Bracket]
I would go with OKC just on the sheer talent advantage they have. Even without Westbrook this is the best team by a good margin and significantly better than GSW. Being that the Warriors have no frontline Brooks would have did what he should have done in the WCSF and place Durant at the 4 spot. OKC in 6.
Chicago was a MASH unit by the time of the ECSF without Deng and Heinrich. Rose wasn't willing to give it a go in the actual winners bracket so there is no chance in hell he decides to play in the hypothetical losers bracket*. Knicks beat the Bulls in a hard seven games.
In the finals OKC outplays NY and wins in 6.
* I don't have a problem with Rose not playing. It is his body and he know it best. I do have a problem with him pretending he was willing to come back. At the very least he should have said at the beginning of each series that he wouldn't be playing and would reconsider in the next round. It was a joke by the end how he kept hinting he might come back.

Abolish the draft. Abolish the rookie scale. Make teams try to win.

Re: [Hypothetical Losers Bracket]
I think the Thunder would beat the Warriors in 6 games....maybe 7. Thunder showed us that they don't defend the 3 point line well last season, so Curry and Thompsom would be primed to go off a couple of games at least.
I think the bulls would beat the knicks, because by this time, I would expect that either one of Deng or Kirk would be back, but even without them, the Bulls should still take it. I know that regular season doesn't matter much, however, when you crush a team 4-0 during the regular season, with at least 3 of them being convincing wins, even when you were shorthanded during the season, then I've got to give them the edge. Knicks are overrated. They blew their chance to get to the ECF, because barring any other major injuries, Miami, Chicago, or Indiana will be the main representatives in the conference finals.
Losers finals: Thunder beating bulls 4-2

OKC had an amazing RS and were blowing people out left and right. They finished the year with a 9 SRS in the RS.
How much of that do you think was Westbrook?

It's easy to look bad when you only have 2 scoring threats and are going up against Conley (top fish guard defender), Allen (best perimeter defender in the league imo), Prince and his freakish wingspan and then even when you get through that you have Marc Gasol, the defensive player of the year, waiting for you at the rim.
OKC - Westbrook isnt nearly as bad as people want to pretend.

playoffs are not regular season
anytime you have Perkins and Fisher playing meaningful minutes you aren't a great team. OKC need Westbrook..he is a difference maker. top 5-7 player here.

RS team performance is a huge predictor of PS team performance. The idea that there is this massive difference between RS and PS team performance is one of the great myths in realgm and the greater public.
They were a 9 SRS team in the RS. In the PS w/o Westbrook how good do you think they are? Say you think they have a huge drop off to the level of a 3 SRS w/o Westbrook in the PS.
That is still better than GSW and Chicago (who is also banged up to hell) and similar to NYK with homecourt throughout.

So, I'm sure you are prepared to acknowledge that the 2011 and 2012 Heat who gave big minutes to Joel Anthony were not a great team.

There is a big difference with giving a guy minutes and actually depending on them...Fish took a good amount of shots in round 2. The fact Fish was their 3rd/4th option to take shots shows how little OKC had after Durant/Martin.
They would be 7th/8th seed without Westbrook.
