Re: Jays recall Gose. I mean GOSE!
Just a bizarre move. AA is really starting to panic here. The Raps kinda got rid of BC, maybe time now to "bump up" AA to a front office position and get a real GM rather than a guy that is a buddy of Beeston's. This buddy system hasn't worked too well for us as AA decided to give his buddy John Gibbons the manager's job and a lifetime supply of sunflower seeds over dinner at Red Lobster.
The guy pretty much ruined Romero for calling him up wayyyyyy too early and now he seems hell bent on doing the same to Gose. he needs playing time not to rot on the bench and only get some running time on the rare games that the Jays are actually winning. It's almost like he wants to get fired. Simply bizarre.

Rajai has had some good seasons in the MAJORS. I also believe rajai is a better base runner...don't k ow why it's always an insult when rajai is a projection.

Not sure why the Jays called up Gose to replace Rajai's 4th OF role when their whole rationale for putting Thole in the minors was to give him everyday AB's. I mean, I get why they called Gose up (Sierra can't play CF), but it's not helping his development and it's not like he was lighting AAA on fire to begin with. Hopefully this is just short-term.

If it's only to run and field, it's an understandable call. Even then though, I'm not sure it's worth taking Gose away from regular playing time in Buffalo. Another questionable at best roster move by AA.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

There's one scenario where it makes sense: if they've all but given up on Gose as a future regular. Beyond that, I'm perplexed.

**** your asterisk.

Personal instruction from Mottola for a few days before going back down?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

I think this is the only rational explanation. Get a week or two with Mottola modifying his swing, and send him back down. Also, with inter-league coming up, it doesn't hurt to have extra utility outfielders.

I don't think it should be all that surprising to the out-of-organization veterans. It's always the way it's been whether that's good or bad. It should be surprising to those that have a future with this organization however, Sierra, Thole etc.
Don't agree with the callup, however, as was pointed out maybe Mottola can help him get back on track. We'll see. He always stiked me as a guy that would be red-hot and ice-cold for stretches. Don't know why. Would have liked to see Sierra rewarded for his early performance with Buffalo. Interesting that Sierra is playing CF tonight for the Bisons. How long 'til Pillar gets called up to AAA.

Re: Jays recall Gose. I mean GOSE!
Rajai had a season where he put up 3.7 WAR in 125 games, to be honest comparing him to a guy who has never shown he can hit at any level is pretty insulting.
It also annoys me people just assume Gose will be the best CF'er in baseball because he's fast or something, outfield defence is hard to evaluate with the naked eye. Its homerism to just assume he'll be that much better than Trout, Bourjos, Revere, Bourn, Gomez etc

The fact that nothing you said has been quoted proves you are still delusional. Rajai Davis was in A ball while Gose is in the Majors. He has many years to get up to that level. He has proven to have more power, better defense and a better arm. Unless of course, Rajai threw 97 MPH in high school.

You're right, speed alone does not a great defensive outfielder make (see Exhibit A: Rajai Davis). But Gose also has the cannon arm, and from what I saw of him last year a good ability to track balls off the bat. I'm confident in saying Gose is now the best defensive outfielder on the team, and one of the best in the majors. It's just the bat that is suspect at this point.

common on now flat, don't me make me bump all those embarrassing posts you made in the spring about Gose completely turning things around based on September and ST stats? Wasn't he supposed to have radically altered his approach at the plate that basically turned him into a superstar? You said that he figured something out in September and insulted me for saying it was just a hot streak, tell me again what was it that he figured out and what changed things in late April?
You're logic is also flawed at best, just because Rajai happened to be one of those late bloomers doesn't mean we have to wait until Gose is 27 years old to figure out who is.

Left Field = Least important position defensively Why not bring up Sierra? He'll get used to picking up the ball off the bat from that side and at least you let Gose work out his issues on the farm. Really starting to question AA baseball acumen.

Gibbons said Gose would be used as a defensive replacement and a pinch runner, which if true, is the reason why Sierra wasnt called up.

Regardless Rajai turned out to be a MLB player something Gose doesnt look like anytime soon. It just ludicrous how Rajai is somehow his floor? Until Gose can hit even respectfully at any level we'll see. Just because he has all the tools and a guy like rajai was a late bloomer doesnt tell the same fat for Gose.
