Where are the lucky charms?

Post#1 » by rapsanity » Tue May 21, 2013 12:47 pm

What's going on this year? In previous years we had hundreds of pages on lottery day. Let's be honest---raptors are not tanking this year. We're going on a full-fledged playoff chase.

Why not hope we land a top 3 pick select our hometown boy Bennett and make the playoffs this year (meaning we keep our pick and OKC waits).

Where's the spirit guys?

No.

Give pick to OKC.

Tank next year for Wiggins.

Similar to what happened to the bluejays mlb forum. Some people just feel like we have no hope whatsoever.

I'd be really disappointed if we miraculously got a top 3 pick this year.. I mean the situation is we gotta give OKC a pick sooner or later, right?

It'll suck any year we finally have to do it - so why not bite the bullet and hope we get the 14th, last lottery pick in a "historically weak" draft as everyone claims it to be?

To give up the 14th pick, the 13th, and 14th place teams would need to move up which would be absolutely unbelievable. While this is supposedly a historically weak draft, it is not a given that an Anthony Bennett or Trey Burke type player would be available where they'd pick next year unless the new GM goes for the tank which I doubt.

That means you'd rather have a 12th or lower pick next year than a top 3 pick this year. That just doesn't make sense to me. The only negative in my mind to winning the lottery is not being able to trade future pick in deals.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Trey's gonna be good. The rest are coin flips imo.

How the hell does getting the pick prevent us from tanking? If anything it gives the new GM MORE reason to tank with more young pieces already in place that need PT.

Maybe it doesn't prevent tanking, but we need give the pick to OKC sometime.

lets see what team will send the saddest life story representative to the lottery and again attempt to tug at peoples heart strings, maybe a puppy with a broken leg with tiny crutches and a bandage headwrap over one eye.

yeah i know hes who i would take #1 but im just saying, hes only #1 im my eyes because the draft class blows lol. I would never ever draft a guy like Olynk, and when hes top3-5 damn. It screams "hansborough" type all over, can dominate in college cant do **** in the nba.

Burke, McLemore, Oladipo, I'd love a shot at all three. Noel too despite his injury concerns. So ya sign me up for a top three pick over the pipe dream of top 3 next year.

Do you all think that this raptors team that has no ability to make any changes for the better (all of our trade assets suck) will get a higher seed next year? We will regress... if anything this year was the weakest year in the NBA, had the most serious injuries to star players i have ever seen in a long time. Every team will improve next year a lot more then we are, we just have to hope for a miracle to make the 8th slot. I can bet we will have a similar or worse record next year unless we get a miracle trade.

Are people on here joking? I hate the situation Colangelo put us in as much as anyone, but if we get a top 3 pick, it's very likely that OKC never even sees a lottery pick from us in the future. There's a 5 year reverse lotto protection on the pick right? So say we get one of the top 3 picks and draft Noel, we add him to a .500 team post Rudy Gay trade as well as whatever peanuts we get for Bargs, leaving us with a roster of:

Lowry/???
Demar/Ross
Gay/Fields
Amir/Acy
Val/Noel

Val is going to keep getting better, the rest of the team is still young, and Noel would eventually start at PF with Val and develop alongside him. Barring freak injuries that team should have no problem at least making the playoffs in the East for 4 seasons in a row, leaving OKC with whatever mid round pick they get from us in 2017.
