OT: Will the Cavs eventually contend?
So the Cavs have done what it seems like most people here wanted the Raps to do. Tank like crazy for several seasons. They were pretty damn successful at it too....... winning two #1 picks during that period.
So they come away with a stud in Irving, & a bunch of other talent.
Irving
Waiters
??????
Thompson
Nerlens
Was it worth it? Is this a contending team of the future?

Re: OT: Will the Cavs eventually contend?
Its hard to imagine a better, young, player than Irving to build a team around.
I think their bench is in a good spot to progress as well. No grossly overpaid, net-minus value players like we tend to have. Gee, Speights, Zeller are all decent players. Also don't forget about Varejao, who did have some pretty awesome chemistry going with Irving last season before injuries

3 seasons aren't several. CAVS are getting lucky. They are one all-star caliber player short yet. First, they trade Varejao, then we'll see what happens.

Re: OT: Will the Cavs eventually contend?
While I don't like some of their draft picks (waiters in particular) they haven't saddled themselves down with bad contracts and can continually try again year after year in the draft. That's great. Bad news, Irving is getting impatient.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Re: OT: Will the Cavs eventually contend?
Just this year, they have 1 - 19 - 31 - 33. Crazy.
Edit: They still have a protected Sac 1st, from the Cassipi/Hickson trade. A future MIA 1st for LBJ. A future Grizzlie 1st. This team isnt even done yet surprisingly Throw in a ORL 2nd next year (should be high again), and a Grizz 2nd.

Re: OT: Will the Cavs eventually contend?
You can tell how dysfunctional the franchise is ran, possibly even worst than us when BC was GM. Other than Lebron, the teams that they've had would have been lottery teams for years on end. The Cavs are tanking, and you can tell Irving is getting tired of losing. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't contend at all, its sad to see a professional team make such a joke of the NBA as well. Their tanking and luck is really infuriating and is not good for the sport.

Re: OT: Will the Cavs eventually contend?
Unlike Toronto, Cleveland wouldn't be able to support an unsuccessful basketball franchise, that's why they landed TT and Irving the same year LBJ left.
As good as Noel looked, I don't see the Cavs taking a risk on an athlete who suffered such a lengthy injury.
Oladipo is a player I would expect to land in the top 3. He's a 6'4 guard with a 6'9 wingspan and a 42 inch vertical; a similar body type to that of Wade and Tony Allen but his max vertical is at least 6 inches more than both of theirs.

You think they are finding a star player from any of those picks other than the first.
Personally, I'm a little underwhelmed at their tank job. They have one allstar & a bunch of young talent.
I don't see a Penny Hardaway/ Shaq tandem or a KD/ Westbrook tandem there.

I dont see how they contend unless Noel fufills all his potential. Waiters and Thompson.... I'm not feeling it

So a team has 4 picks in the top 33 this year, plus 3 more future 1sts, and 2 more future 2nds, and its not good enough?
Plus KI/TT/DW all 21 and under. Only Varejao/Gee locked up past 13-14 season (except team options, alot of which they will pick up), and reasonable deals.

Well you have to understand they aren't in the amazing position we are. Capped out with no picks to be seen nor heard.
Good times.....

Props TZ!

Probably. Also I think it's a good thing they won't get Wiggins cos he'd been a better fit to the Cavs than Parker would cos Parker plays more of a ball dominant do it all type forward role, meanwhile Wiggins operates better in catch and shoot/drive situation and would play very well with Irving.
And alot of us raps fans are obviously jealous of the Cavs' future, thank you BC.
