Oladipo Emerging As GM's Favorite Player In Draft

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 22, 2013 6:10 pm

Victor Oladipo appears to be the most popular player in the 2013 NBA Draft for general managers, even if he isn't on top of draft boards.

"Oladipo is the guy that GMs love in this draft," wrote Chad Ford. "May be the only one. I've talked to 14 or 15 who tell me he's their favorite player. Almost zero downside and still significant upside. Not sure he's a fit in Cleveland or Washington -- but Orlando and Phoenix both look like strong fits. (Trey) Burke may be a bigger need (for Orlando), but Oladipo might be the better player long-term."

Oladipo was a first team All-American in his junior season at Indiana.

If he's available at #5, Phoenix has to take him. Too much potential to pass up, especially on a team that needs pure talent.

It's already been mentioned that the trailblazers really want to trade up and draft this guy? I personally see him being an all nba defender for most of his career like an igoudala or tony allen type not necessarily an elite scorer or all star type player. If I were the blazers, I'd cut ties with aldridge and trade him to the cavs for a package based around varejao (productive player on expiring deal), the 2013 #1 pick and other assets. Honestly, I don't think aldridge resigns with the blazers in free agency 2015 so this way they at least get something for him. Cavaliers have already let it be known they are interested in trading for LA. This way portland benefits cause an aldridge trade will probably sink them record wise to the nba bottom feeders and they will have really good odds at getting wiggin/parker/randle in the loaded 2014 draft.

I think he has the most upside in the draft, he's should be the #1 pick for any team who doesn't need a big man in the middle.
