Does Beal have a shoe contract? If not, perhaps he, along with Steph Curry, should be giving these a try. If they stop sprained ankles while not losing mobility, why wouldn't he?

Unless of course the shoes suck, but I'm just going on Barry's cred here.

I remember Beal wearing a lot of low-top shoes during the season. Can't say if they had anything to do w/ his ankle sprains, but they could've.

Those shoes don't look that good though. I assume many NBA players care how fashionable their shoes look.

Beal will be repping us at the draft lottery. Hope he can bring us some luck. I know the draft sucks this year but I'd rather have a higher pick than a lower one.

It's popular to say this, but this draft doesn't suck.

It just doesn't have a John Wall, Kyrie Irving or Anthony Davis type of player at the top, but most people look at McLemore as an equal prospect (or better, although I don't look at him that way) to Bradley Beal, who went 3rd in 2012.

I'd say the top 10 (minus the consensus #1 that those drafts had) of this draft is much stronger than the top 10 from 2010 and 2011 and could be on par with 2012.

It does seem to be a fairly deep draft with a definite lack of elite talent.

Well this is concerning about Beal still having a stress injury and not able to participate in Basketball activities still and possibly for a while longer. Going in for x-rays in a couple weeks.

I hope the next thing we hear isn't he has to have pins or screws put in his ankle.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wiz ... d-to-play/

He is only the seventh teenager in NBA history to make the all-rookie first team, joining all-stars LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Tony Parker, Dwight Howard and former NBA player Darius Miles.

“I heard a few names, LeBron,” Beal said of the list. “It feels great. It’s an honor and a blessing itself, to be in the same category and achieve the same things that some of these great guys, maybe even future Hall of Famers have achieved, it’s definitely a great feeling and one I’m really cherishing. Just shows I had a great year, but I have a lot of work to do at the same time.”

My bleacher report stream just showed that Wall and Beal were invited to Team USA minicamp.

The hell? Bradley Beal is one of only 3 shooting-guards on the list:

Ryan Anderson (New Orleans Pelicans)
Harrison Barnes (Golden State Warriors)
Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards)
Mike Conley (Memphis Grizzlies)
DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings)
Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)
DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors)
Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons)
Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets)
Derrick Favors (Utah Jazz)
Paul George (Indiana Pacers)
Taj Gibson (Chicago Bulls)
Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz)
Jrue Holiday (Philadelphia 76ers)
Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers)
DeAndre Jordan (Los Angeles Clippers)
Ty Lawson (Denver Nuggets)
Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs)
Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers)
Greg Monroe (Detroit Pistons)
Chandler Parsons (Houston Rockets)
Larry Sanders (Milwaukee Bucks)
Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors)
Dion Waiters (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Kemba Walker (Charlotte Bobcats)
John Wall (Washington Wizards)
Tyler Zeller (Cleveland Cavaliers).

Klay Thompson, Dion Waiters, BReal. That's it. (Hard to count DeMar DeRozan as a shooting guard -- with his limited range he's no shooter. And even Waiters is suspect in this respect).

There's a metric tonne of ballhandlers though. Six. It'll be a harder road for John to separate himself from the pack.

Incidentally the dearth of quality young SGs league-wide suggests maybe selecting a surplus 2 guard is not a bad move in terms of stockpiling valued assets.

I think Allen Crabbe, C J McCollum, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Jamaal Franklin each can compete with the names above.

I agree, doc, that an additional SG would be a bonus. I love Beal but I also think a few rookie SGs are going to really surprise this coming season.

Oladipo and possibly McLemore (but I think the others are going to be better) can also compete, of course.

Yeah, fairly weak crop of SG's. Harden and Eric Gordon are already on the team and you figure Steph Curry just wants to heal up. Other than that, if you weed out guys who are 25 and older, the list of candidates doesn't look too good. MarShon Brooks? Lance Stevenson? Pass. Plus guys like Paul George and Kyrie Irving can play SG internationally no problem.

Each of them or just 1 of them? It would make for a damn solid draft class if 2-3 guards (Dipo, McLemore, Burke, one of the guys CCJ mentioned), 1-2 forwards (Porter, Bennett, Zeller, Shabazz, Olynyk), and a center (Noel) all end up getting USA camp invites.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

dangermouse, imagine that sentiment broadcast to millions of followers, just like yourself. As AVJO, you could speak for average joes everywhere, telling them how you feel and how they should feel. All you need is your own preteen to manage the account, and you're on your way.

Bradley Beal injury update: Wizards' guard cleared to run, still questionable for Team USA minicamp

That Beal is cleared to run is encouraging, and the truth is that he didn't need to play in Summer League anyway given all he accomplished last season. However, if he cannot play in the Team USA mini-camp, it will have been four months since he suffered the injury. That's a long time, even if the Wizards are being cautious.

....

Good. I like cautious when it comes to these kinds of things. Specially with a young player who is to often to ready to go even when they are injured.

Slow and steady Mr Beal.

once again, a total disaster by the wizards medical staff. Just like John Wall, Beal was suppose to be heathy much earlier than anticipated.

What a trainwreck. How is Beal working on his game this summer?
