Another thing to consider : If Orlando trades Afflalo in a straight salary dump , then waives Turkoglu and Harrington's half guaranteed contracts , they would have enough money to sign a max FA.
Afflalo for # 38 makes a ton of sense . . .

Re: Reacquire Arron Afflalo
There was a thread on this during the season, and I think the general consensus was that it would take Stuckey + our 1st.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

No it would not. Afflalo is not worth expirings + a top 10 pick.

He didn't shoot the 3 very well this year.
What's up with that?

THANK GOD SOMEONE SAID IT
Afflalo does not suck. He may be considered over-rated or over-hyped if you think he is an All-Star caliber player or expect him to be one of your teams 3-4 best players. That is not who he is. What he is, is a solid role player capable of filling out a lineup once you already have your core in place.
Going back to his rookie season the thing that impressed me the most about Afflalo was his lack of "rookie" mistakes. He has a high bball acumen, that I compared to Battier. He won't wow you, but he won't hurt you either.
Defensively I would not consider him elite, but he is certainly very good. It seems as though some of his defensive intensity has waned as he's become more of an offensive option, but he's still above average and capable of playing very very good defense when locked in.
Offensively he's actually developed a bit more than I had expected, but similar to Rips situation in Detroit his last few years, he is not suited to being a teams #1 option. He's best utilized as a 3rd/4th option, which partially contributes to his drop in efficiency. His stroke is still there, but where in Denver he was taking more set, open looks out of the flow of the offense, last year he was forcing the issue more and trying to create his own shot or rushing.
Personally, I feel he'd greatly benefit from the inside/out game he'd have here with Monroe/Drummond. His production would likely dip back down to 14-15 ppg, but his efficiency should go back up.
I do not feel Afflalo is the answer to all our problems, but a 3 & D guy at the 2 spot would be useful. But then you need that legit #1/#2 option at SF (or possibly PG). Afflalo is a complimentary piece, and a very good one. Not worth our pick and unlikely to come here, but no need to disparage the guy. He's solid.

Re: Reacquire Arron Afflalo
Being in Orlando, I did watch many games last year. Afflalo was put into a position as the Number 1 option on many nights. He struggled in that capacity, especially on defense, being he was asked to shoot the ball up to 20 times a night. His percentages went down because there were no other threats on the team and he had to fight for hard shots.
But, I did like the fact that he was able to create his own shot and take the ball to the hoop or pull up for threes. His athleticism surprised me. He does play very good defense when his offensive calls are limited, but he is definitely not elite on defense as he struggled one on one at times. But, I think he excels in a team defensive system which Orlando did not have under Jacque Vaughn.
As for his price, to get a player of his abilities to complement the Pistons core for under $8 mil per on a reasonable contract would be a nice fit. He just really doesn't fit into the rebuilding Magic. So, I reckon someone is going to get him.

^Thx for the insight BMP. You pretty much confirmed what I saw (with limited exposure) this season.
