They're moving to SF too, which has few peers among NBA cities.

LOS ANGELES—Ahead of his impending free agency, Lakers center Dwight Howard told reporters Thursday that he is “very interested” in moving to Houston and completely ruining the Rockets. “They have a great young core of players with James Harden and Jeremy Lin, so I’d obviously love the chance to go shatter their chemistry and tear the entire locker room apart,” said Howard, adding that he would “relish the opportunity” to totally undermine Rockets head coach Kevin McHale. “There are a few teams on my radar right now. Dallas has a really solid roster too, and I’m definitely intrigued by the prospect of clashing with Dirk Nowitzki and running that whole franchise into the ground. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.” Howard did stress to reporters, however, that he has not yet ruled out remaining in Los Angeles to continue destroying the Lakers for the foreseeable future.

Re: Dwight considering GSW
I am usually not one who goes in for "smokescreen" theories, but I certainly see it here.
I believe there is a 99.9% chance that Dwight re-signs with the Lakers. But before he does he is going to do the song and dance and get other teams to try to woo him and make him feel like a big man...and ultimately (in his mind) possibly pressure the Lakers into making some changes to make him feel more welcome.
And then, at the end of the day, someone is going to point out to him that he is coming off major back surgery and would be 31 or 32 when his next deal expires and that it would be idiotic for him to leave about $30 million on the table AND leave the most successful franchise in the history of the NBA because he doesn't particularly like the current coach.

The absurd mystery of the strange forces of existence.

No, not automatically, but it makes you seem like a more credible threat for negotiating purposes. For GSW to take on Dwight, it would require a sign and trade and under the new rules, I'm not even certain LA can participate in one. Secondly, what is GSW going to give up that LAL wants - a broken down Bogut? Biedrins? Jefferson? Even if such a deal is legal, it would only begin to be interesting for LAL if they get one or two of Curry/Thompson/Barnes.

Re: Dwight considering GSW
My ranking of Dwight's options:
Golden State
Houston
------
Atlanta
-------
Dallas
--------
Los Angeles
Houston and Golden State would just need him to rebound and protect the rim. In Golden State, he's probably the third offensive option. In Houston, he's probably 2 or 3. Given Golden State's greater chance of winning now, I'd go there, if I were him.
The relative ease with which Houston can sign him, however, is definitely appealing. They also have way more assets/flexibility going forward. Either option is a great scenario.
Atlanta would require too much of him. Dallas would DEFINITELY require too much of him. The Lakers should have a major free agent leave haha.

Re: Dwight considering GSW
Ummm GS with Dwight could eviscerate the Heat... they basically completely exploit their 2 biggest weaknesses which are size down low/rim protection and a myriad of 3 pointers. Jeez, Durant might never go to the finals again if this happens.
Not sure if they can actually do it though, they have a 74M payroll so they're over the luxury tax unless the threshold increases or they dump someone. Too bad RJ had that ridiculous player option.

Re: Dwight considering GSW
Golden State is capped out and the Lakers wouldn't want any of the bloated contracts back in an sign and trade and they won't be moving Curry or Thompson, players the Lakers would demand back to facilitate a trade.
He might like them but any 'consideration' ends there.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Dwight left for GSW, Kobe was injured for the most of the season and the Lakers tanked and got Andrew Wiggins? I'd never see that one coming.

Re: Dwight considering GSW
While most times reports of a big name guy considering moving to a smaller market are all bs, this could have some truth to it. Above all else Dwight likes being liked. Warriors fans are the best/most supportive fan base that exist in the NBA and playing for a crowd like that would ensure Dwight always feels the love. He would have some of the best shooters in the game in Curry/Klay to knock down 3's (if they adopt a similar offense that Orlando had). As a fit for his personality and his skill set this would be a pretty ideal situation for him to land in.
However, does he leave that guaranteed money on the table? Probably not. But if he actually looks at this situation he could see it as a good fit.

That's the best of the bunch but if you think the Lakers will actually help a division foe land Howard by trading him in return for Bogut and other scraps then God help you and your ding ding ding.

Re: Dwight considering GSW
I think Golden State can Amnesty someone , they have a LOT of expiring contracts and salary coming off the books soon.
To be honest Dwight is a media whore and obviously does this on purpose.
But that would be amazing if he joined GSW.
Honestly, the 3 point shooting would give him so muh space to operate Down low. It'd be Dwights Orlando Magic on some heavy heavy steroids and growth hormone.
They can play David Lee at the 4 and he can still stretch the floor, albeit not at the three point line.
But they can also go small ball with Curry Jack Thompson Barnes and Dwight.
Dwight and Curry on the pick and roll would be so dirtyyy. Plus Barnes will definitely come into his own. If Dwight can get back to 70% of his former self, wow. That team beats the Heat (if Barnes becomes the All star I expect him to be).

Re: Dwight considering GSW
In a magical world where GSW could retain Curry/Klay and gain Howard this would be an awesome fit.
However, there's no chance the Lakers take back Bogut or Lee.
