Al Horford gets more ALL NBA votes than SMOOV

Al Horford got 31 points in ALL NBA voting, including two first-team votes. Josh Smith got 7 points. #ATLHawks

Pretty crazy. I mean it doesnt surprise me, but by that amount, almost 5 times the votes............

What realistically can Josh Smith at age 28 (in DEC) expect contract wise. 10 million? 15 million?

I dont know, i dont see anyone offering him a 4 year deal

Horford was the better player by a fair margin this past season.

I have Josh valued at $11.7M on the FA market, without age taken into consideration. At 28, he's in his prime, so I think he's probably looking at about $12M annually. Given his temperment, I'd expect his offers to hover around 3/36, maybe 3/38 with a player option in the final year.

not surprising at all when 1 guy plays within the team while the other seems to do his own thing on offense with 1 of the worst shot selections in the league.

why the surprise... Horford is a player with pretty much all fundaments. He's not great at any, bue he's very solid across the board. Smith is the opposite, out of control, bad shot selection, bad rebound positioning. Man, can't wait to see him sign somewhere else...

My surprise was by the amount of votes Horford got > Josh. I always valued Al over Smith , especially this year. But almost 5 times the votes?

Interesting.

Horford had a good year, and so did Smoove, but Horford is a center and Josh is a PF/SF, so it is going to be alot harder for Smoove to get votes. Josh is competing for votes against guys like Lebron, Carmelo, Durant.

If Horford makes $12 million per, then Smoove's value is about $13 million per. I don't think anybody is going offer Josh $15 million per, someone might offer him $14 million per, but i hope Ferry can re-sign Josh for something around $11 million per to $13.5 million per, with the 5th year.

Hey, Joe got nary a tally so don't feel bad for Josh. At least he didn't fall off the face of the earth.

Al was the rock, one of the better big men in the league.

Not trying to start controversy, but Al more than likely got those votes for being a center. Not surprised at all. He made the 3rd team a few years ago as a center. Which is why I don't know why we think he is a forward, when he has more success being a center.

As an outsider, I think Horford should be there over Smith. Horford is a solid inside guy on both ends of the court. Smith is a good defender, but he is a really good role player (2-way) but thinks he is a scorer. He chucks up waaaay to many ill-advised shots in an attempt on make his numbers look better and ends up hurting the Hawks.
