Post#1 » by aad » Fri May 24, 2013 2:29 am

If we draft mcCollum like all the mock drafts say do yall think a knight and mccollum backcourt can work or we can make one our 6th man?

Sure, we can make one our 6th man. The question is do we need two 6th men? lol

Doesn't make sense to me. Two 6'3'' combo guards who can score but can't run an offense at all. On a team that needs a playmaker?

Like the player (McCollum), hate the fit.

Great scorer, and if he were 6-5 or 6-6, he'd be a great fit at SG. But at only 6-3, I fail to see what we need another 6-3 scoring guard for when we already have Knight.

Knight was one of the best scorers in the 11 draft, but if he can't run the point, at only 6-3 he's pretty much relegated to being a career bench player.

The Pistons would have to be convinced McCollum was a real NBA PG to take him 8th, imo. And only avg 2.9 asts in college he's obviously not a PG

Ask Milwaukee how an undersized back court, where both players are shoot first players worked out for them.

No more Combo guards please.
Traditional point guard with size ideally or a prototypical SG. we don't need another tweener

CJ McCollum intrigues me because of his ball handling, he is very good in iso plays, creating his own shot.

We havent had someone like that in a long time, his size worries me though.

The last thing that this team needs is a combo guard.

Since Billups, we have tried Iverson, Stuckey, Gordon and Knight- each one has failed. We don't need any combo guards. We need a PG and a SG, not a guy who doesn't excel at either spot. By now, Joe D has to realize this.

No to McCollum. Please, God, No.

2 of the best point guards in the game today are "combo guards": Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook. Don't let the failures of Knight and Stuckey influence your opinion on other players. Every prospect is different.

Well said. I don't think of Knight as a failure yet as he can has been productive and hasn't found his niche yet while still developing. As for Stuckey, he still is productive, but appears to be better suited as a sixth man combo guard playing both SG and PG. The majority of players taken 15th in the draft don't pan out as well as Stuckey. I just think he needs a change of scenery which could benefit both stuck and the Pistons.

I agree. I would prefer to keep Calderon and get Muhammed. Calderon would be good short term and nab a point guard next year we can develop or trade back into the late first to try to get one.

You can't compare Rose/westbrook to the prospects from this draft.

I actually don't see Knight as a failure. I'm actually pretty high on him. I even hold a little hope for stuckey still.
I would just like a typical PG or SG.

I want Knight as my PG. I'm just not a fan of having two 6'3'' guards.
