I think it's an attempt to say "if you want Zellar you'd better trade up to get him, don't just assume we are taking any wing and he can fall to you".

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Thread Pt. II
The more I think about it the more I want Bennett.
I view Noel, McLemore, Porter, Oladipo, Burke as top 7 locks
We are looking at one of Bennett, Shabazz, Zeller, Saric, KCP, MCW, McCollum

at 8, isn't shabazz in the discussion. high risk, high reward. at worst we found a backup sg, at best, a cornerstone sg

I am starting to really like KCP. Great 3pt shot made almost 38% while attempting 7 3's per game. With the twin towers down low he can space the floor, 6'6", plus explosive. Last season scored almost 19 pts over 7 rebs (What?!?!) and 2 steals. It will also help knight get some easy dimes.

"Our preference is to look at the perimeter with this particular pick. But by no means are we locked into that where that's all we're going to take, no matter what.
So he obviously has multiple wings in mind. Hopefully are beatwriters get more info this time around.
I'm thinking the whole "we won't hesitate to take a big" thing is all just a smokescreen. There's no way Joe is going to use the 8th pick on a career backup big man for us, when he could get a starter at another position of need like SG, and get it on a rookie deal.
Even though we have the capspace to get a starting SG in FA, it doesnt mean Joe would rather spend a fortune on a player that he could get for $2 mil/yr in the draft.
At the same time though, he may just be looking at this pick as a way to obtain another trade asset. Where he could be planning to trade whoever we draft as part of a package with our capspace to acquire a proven all-star instead somehow. In which case, taking the BPA regardless of position makes sense.

McCollum is Joe D guy imo. He's gonna keep trying to find the next Billups, even if it gets him fired...

In this draft you gotta go PBA. IF Dumars thinks McCollum is that guy I have no problem with it. Let Knight and CJ battle it out, see if CJ has the swagger Knight can't seem to find consistently.

Though not having to do with the draft, anyone have any thoughts on trying out Wes Johnson on a super cheap deal? I'm surprised he's disappeared but then again he plays in Phoenix. Cheap, off the bench, athletic...I'd be willing to give it a go. #4 pick

How good are KCP's ball handling and playmaking skills?

Not very good...but that's not his job as a SG.

Its pretty important that your 2 guard has elite ball handling & play making skills unless they can do something else very very good.
They are lead scorers 99% of the time.

There's not a single point guard in the draft that has elite ball handling and play making skills...let along a 2 guard.

McCollum would be a 2-guard in the NBA...

Burke is a very good ball handler and playmaker.
CJ has a sick handle.

Unless you have a CP3 type player as your PG, your team needs an additional ball handler/playmaker. Even Deron Williams plays off the ball for a considerable amount of time in every single game.
I am not saying you have to get that kind of a player in the draft. I am also not saying that only the SG has to have those traits. One of our next SG/SF has to have those traits. Those are the biggest weaknesses of this team.
Why do you think some people here whine about Knight in almost every single game? It's because he is a not a playmaker(yet) and his ball handling is shaky.
All I am saying is that PG is not the only one who should be able to handle the ball....unless u have CP3 or Kyrie at some level.
EDIT: If KCP is not good as a ball handler, what makes his better than Crabbe? Can't we just draft him at a slightly lower draft position?

If Muhammad's available at the 8 we need to pick him up and call it a day...At least our SF problems will be taken care of...I also wouldn't mind taking on another 1st rounder and picking up McCullum as our future 6th man...
