so duncans once again all nba 1st team

Post#1 » by islamovic » Fri May 24, 2013 2:27 pm

this time as a c?

yet hes been a f his entire career n didnt start one game this year as a c

should the nba just forget about "positions" n select all nba teams based on performance only?

so top 5 players regardless of positions get in.

same goes for allstar selections.

It's funny, because he was listed as a forward on All-Defensive Teams. The same thing can be said about Larry Sanders, who got robbed imo.

What debate was there ever between the two other than maybe 2004 and 2008 and maybe 2010?

Because of all the KG-backers that support him based on his all-nba selections, due to the overwhelming knowledge of the NBA media?

All this does is reaffirm why these sort of accolades should be meaningless in all-time arguments.

[quote="islamovic"]this time as a c?/quote]

Considering he spends most of his minutes at a center, I'm not sure why this is a surprise. Who cares if he 'starts' at PF if he's playing most of the game and finishing games at center. This has been going on for years.

You're right let's go with the overwhelming knowledge on REALGM. No one is going to quote anyone on this board as an authority. You want people to take you seriously?

How does this settle the debate when the debate had ended like 7 years ago?

Having said that, while it's true that your average RealGM poster is merely here on a recreational basis, there are some statisticians, others associated with the game, some actual members of the media, etc, etc.

Sweeping generalizations, not so wise. ;)

How did I shift goalposts? I was very specific with my statement. I know REALGM has been mentioned on tv. That does not mean that that individual was said to be an authority. Secondly, I don't think anyone has put their resumes on their profile, associated their name with any organizations, etc.

You can be an expert in your field, but others have to accept you as an "authority"......

Convenient now that Duncan likes to be classified as a C when he wouldn't have a shot at making the first team as a forward.

How does this mean anything though? Kobe just got on the first team, while totally abandoning the idea of playing defense.

Well, a) you're wrong that no one treats RealGM people as an authority, so that was part of it. But mainly, I was just responding to your poor choice of GIF with a similarly pointless GIF for the sake of banter. :D

As you know I'm a big TD fan but this is getting cheesy as hell.
Abolish the draft. Abolish the rookie scale. Make teams try to win.

Can you be a little more vague? And my choice of a gif is that anyone can be quoted....doesn't make them an authority... 8-)

Doesn't deserve it, these games on how they generalize him is asinine. During All Star voting he's a forward, and for this accolade he's a center. Which is it ? What's his damn position ?

I've never seen a player get shifted around as much as him and still reap the benefits for it.
