That was BC who did those moves, though.

And what he does rarely makes sense so I'd take it with a grain of salt. Dude gave DeRozan a hefty extension for absolutely no reason.

Not bad. Especially if we could pull off a sign and trade of Demar for Millsap.

I think Thornton is an underrated starter, though less effective as a 6th man off the bench. Good scorer and pretty efficient too. As a starter a top 10 PER guy at SG. Not much D, but then again, Demar is not on the court for his D either. Think: a mini Kevin Martin? His outside scoring might be a better fit beside Gay than Demar is. Have Rudy playing closer to and attacking the basket, and putting a cork in the long distance bombs.

Hayes could be our new Rasho.

Would Utah have any interest in a Demar for Millsap sign and trade, if they were sure Millsap was leaving? i.e. get at least something in return?

If the new GM doesn't blow things up, Millsap + Thornton + the guy you pick at 7 is a solid haul for a team wanting to be a playoff team for the next 2 seasons.

And don't count Geoff Petrie out. He's the guy who turned the 7th pick in the 2011 draft (Klay Thompson, Kemba Walker, Brandon Knight still on the board) into Jimmer Fredette and John Salmons. Petrie's probably the only long-serving GM who's been worse than Colangelo over the last 7 years.

Get 'er done New Guy!

Depends on who's on the board at #7 but this isn't a bad deal at all.

This deal is highway robbery for us. I would do this deal even if they ask for Demar instead of bargs. (DD fills their need at SF). Even then we still win big.

Draft a replacement wing prospect in Ken Pope

Buy DAL 13th pick

Draft a backup pass first PG (Larkin? Schroeder?)

Then you can trade Bargs + Gray for Boozer and send Boozer to the bench

Lowry/Schroeder
Thorton/KCP
Gay/Fields
Amir/Boozer
Val/Hayes

The good thing about this team (aside from improved short term and long term outlook) is that the 2nd unit actually has a gameplan (Schroeder/Boozer PnR or PnP).

I'd love to buy the 13th pick from Dallas depending who's on the board. Just not sure what Dallas is going to do...though I think they'll attempt to move Marion along with that pick. We'll see how that goes because this draft is very weak and there may not be a whole lot of buyers for the 13th pick at that price in this draft.

I'd be down for it even if Burke doesn't fall to 7. Personally, I see this draft as 6 deep (McLemore, Noel, Burke, Porter, Oladipo, and Bennett), but there are HUGE wildcards like Muhammad so getting that pick would be a dream especially for that package. We essentially fulfill needs and get younger in one move. I wonder if Kings fans would go for something like that.

Whoever the new GM is, I'd say this is an ideal offseason (keep in mind I'm in for a teardown):

1) Amnesty Bargnani

Yeah...

2) Rudy Gay to Brooklyn for Humphries (exp), Brooks & a couple of 1sts.

They stack their team further to try and compete with the East's elite. Let's face it, they can't blow it up, no one's taking those deals so might as well add on if you can.

3) Offer Utah who are desperate for a point guard and have a glut of bigs Lowry for Kanter (although I doubt this works if Millsap and Jefferson bolt)

They need a point guard, we're dumping salaries, might as well give them what we want and get some value back.

4) DeRozan to Chicago for Hinrich (exp) + Hamilton (exp)

They have a guy like Jimmy Butler already, but I'd assume Thibs is smart enough to use DeMar as a 6th man like any smart coach would where he can destroy 2nd unit guys and play lax defense.

P.S. The only bad contract I didn't get rid of was Landy Fields. That was so horrible, we're either going to have to fleece someone or we're stuck with him. But we would be so far under the cap and in a full out tank with a good GM at the helm while keeping our young talent.

OR we can see if this thing is workable as is :P

I'd actually want a Richard Jefferson + Harrison Barnes deal Barnes for Rudy Gay deal if we're going to blow it up.

I like a lot of Barnes' game, but I'm not sure I'm completely sold on him yet. I think he may have experienced a lot of his success because of the epic shooters GState has spreading out the floor for him. If the defense tightens up on him I'd like to see how he responds.

Raptors Trade Bargnani to Miami for Mike Miller + Mario Chalmers + James Jones

Bargs and Bosh have played together in the past, Miller isnt in the rotation, neither is Jones. Bargs is the best player in the deal and would fit very nicely in the Heat system

Amnesty Kleiza sign Carl Landry 2 yrs $5m per
Elton Brand to 2 yrs $2m per

Raps

Lowry - Chalmers
DD - Ross - Miller
Gay - Anderson - Jones
Amir - Landry - Fields
JV - Brand - Gray

How about Gray + Kleiza for Perkins + our 12th pick back.
Only drawback is we'd have to go into deep lux tax to resign Lowry if we choose to do so.

Somehow acquire Marcus Thornton even if DeRozan is going the other way.

I think Marcus Thornton would pair up great with Gay and Val.

I really like that Thorton + Hayes + #7 for Ross and Bargnani. That's a great "retool" kind of move while we get a pick to draft Shabazz and pair him with Val while moving Bargnani. Then we can deal DeRozan for bench help and/or another pick.

Heck we could even expand it to be:

SAC out: Thorton, Hayes, #7, Salmons
SAC in: Ross, Bargnani, Kleiza, Gray

TOR out: Ross, Bargnani, Kleiza, Gray
TOR in: Thorton, Hayes, #7, Salmons

They save a lot of money in that deal and get a good prospect in Ross. I'd do it if Shabazz was available.

I'd do it but not for the #12 pick. It would have to be Perry Jones III or Jeremy Lamb.

My guess Presti will try and use a combo of Lamb, Jones III, #12 and Perkins to land either Gortat or Varejao. Book it.

I wouldn't mind him if we're looking at 2nd round prospects, but I'd be more interested in Kabongo/Nedovic/CJ Leslie/Glen Rice Jr.
