Seth Curry?

Post#1 » by MellowRose » Wed May 22, 2013 7:46 pm

Why is this guy not being talked about??? I admit that I haven't seen much of his game, but I've heard he's an amazing shooter.

Can he be the next Stephen Curry?
Why aren't teams picking him up as potential players they want in the draft?

He doesn't appear to be an AMAZING shooter like Steph, but still a really good/great one. Love his feel for the game. The biggest reason he's not higher, is he probably can't run an offense at PG and will be a defensive liability at SG. But should be good enough offensively to be a player. Especially considering there's situations where he can play PG beside a SG who's running the offense

Well, the Pelicans are/were trying to groom a SG in Rivers into a PG, can't whatever team selects Seth try and do the same with him? I mean, man, I'd love for him to be on the Magic.

It is worth the try, especially considering he still has a likely NBA role at the 2 as a specialist spot up shooter if he stays there and in the 20s even that (getting a rotation player) is a success. I think he is a top 7 or 8 guard prospect in the draft

He will never be a starter, but even if he never improves he has a role as good bench player. Any team that takes him in the second is going to get good value there.

just because you can shoot doesn't mean theres a place for you in the league if you're a matador defender and bring nothing else offensively. people used to say the same stuff about Salim Stoudamire. if Seth Curry doesn't improve his PG skills he will be a nice player in Europe maybe. he'll definitely get a shot to improve though

His profile is similar to Redick's, but he was about 10% of the player Reddick was at Duke.

If you are looking for sharp-shooting 2-guards that are undersized, under-athletic and can't run point... they aren't hard to find.

He feels like a late-2nd / undrafted FA type. He'll go to camp with someone, but he's a guy that will be lucky to be in the NBA in 3 years.

Wolters and McCollum are closer to Steph Curry, but both pail in comparison.

Spurs may draft him as another Gary Neal.

Seth Curry is a strange guard. He's more of a spot up shooting 2guard, but didn't show the reliable deadly shot in college. He doesn't have handles and can't see him playing the point guard in the NBA. His role will most likely be 12th man unless the works on his game hardcore this offseason and next few years.

Curry will probably be a 50+ pick or undrafted unless his Curry genes turns on during tryouts.

Kelly is not slipping past mid 30's.

His injury is a big concern as well. He had a rod inserted in his shin. Will be out at least 6 months. Also not a great ball handler. The only thing he did at Duke was score. Doesn't play defense and he doesn't create for team mates. I think he is a good player and fun to watch but better suited for FIBA

I am not so sure about that. Salim's problems were not his ability to shoot the ball but a lot of the off the court stuff he had going on. He had some injuries as well as some other stuff.

In the right role Seth Curry could be very effective. If you can stretch the floor you have a chance in the right situation.

He should be worth a second round pick for most any team. You know you're getting great 3-point shooting, but probably little else. Still, not a bad gamble in the second round.

No, he is nowhere near as good as his brother.

I don't think people realize how good Steph was in college. He had one of the most complete offensive games of all time: unlimited range with no conscience and zero space needed, elite touch around the rim with either hand, handling the ball in creative ways in traffic, using footwork and ballfakes to confuse defenders, abusing people in the high-post or elbow with midrange jumpers, scoring off-and-on the ball, finding ways to get to the line.....

The knock on Steph was always his size. People said he was skilled enough but didn't possess the physical tools to play in the NBA.

Well Seth's even smaller and not on the same planet as his brother talent-wise.

Just to be clear, I think he's a good enough shooter to carve out a niche somewhere in the League if he continues to work hard and improve his game, but any comparison to his brother should be quashed immediately. He'll never be that type of player.
