Am I the only one interested in the Mavs' lottery pick?
it's to free cap space for Dwight, a player we don't want.
so cash considerations will probably do it.
we could have 2 first rounders.

Dude i am all for this. If we dont get wing players at least two first rounders that we can groom to become those players would be awesome...make it happen Sterling

Re: Am I the only one interested in the Mavs' lottery pick?
don't they already have enough to sign dwight for the max without having to fleece the 1st rounder cap hold?
maybe i am not well informed enough about this matter, but unless they HAVE TO give up the caphold to sign a max player, i don't see why a rebuilding franchise would sell a first rounder when they are owned by mark cuban. if anything, cuban would want to buy our pick off of sterling.

Not too sure about the details either, but apparently they may be looking to make a splash in free agency this summer.

Re: Am I the only one interested in the Mavs' lottery pick?
hmmmmm apparently they do need to clear the capspace

in that case, i would think that cuban would rather have a future pick or picks over cash, so his team can continue to rebuild and add pieces rather than taking cash he already have more than enough of. but hey this is a good news for us either way.

Re: Am I the only one interested in the Mavs' lottery pick?
It's interesting because I like Cody Zeller and he may be available at that pick.
I don't know, I feel like it would take a lot more than just cash considerations to pry the pick out of them. Bledsoe might do. If Dwight doesn't work out, perhaps a DJ + Bledsoe for pick + sign and trade OJ Mayo? Not sure about the logistics but, that would work, right?
I like Cody Zeller.
Cause I wanna believe that a white-American player can be a superstar in this league.
Please don't laugh at my infatuation of Cody Zeller.

Re: Am I the only one interested in the Mavs' lottery pick?
I'm down with a cash draft pick trade. Cody Zeller physically is Jason Smith, a 7'0 who's athletic and has the length of a PF. Did he have as good offensive ability as Smith did in college?
Cody Zeller
35.5 no step vert
37.5 max vert
17 bench press
10.83 lane agility
3.15 court sprint
6'10.75" wingspan
8'10 standing reach
Jason Smith:
33.5 no step vert
37.5 max vert
15 bench press
10.96 lane agility
3.29 court sprint
6'10.75" wingspan
8'10 standing reach

Having two picks would allow us to draft a SG and SF, and they can back up the starters. That way we get younger in the process, and use these guys as bench players so we can let go of some dead weight.

Lol thats funny. But there are many white american bball players that are good. There just isnt a true superstar out there yet because of cultural issues. Bball is just not a priority for white americans as other sports like baseball and football are. Otherwise there would be guys that are superstars

I think you are missing the point of Dallas trying to trade their pick. They don't want Bledsoe, DJ or anyone else. They want cap space. Bringing in players, even if there OJ was traded back to us, would still further limit what they could offer Howard

Re: Am I the only one interested in the Mavs' lottery pick?
Dallas fan here and we want Paul, not Howard. I know what the national media is saying but most of the local media knows the Mavs are after CP before Howard, and we have enough space to sign him outright. Because Howard's max is a couple of million more, we don't have enough to sign him outright. The real plan is to sign Paul and trade the rest of our roster to the Lakers for Howard and get both, but there's a reason Mavs fans are calling it the Double Pipe Dream Plan.
Frankly I don't think we get either one, but you know Cuban will try.

you guys are far, far closer to signing dwight than CP3. clippers are the better team right now with CP3 than the mavs are with CP3. chris knows his future maybe uncertain with the knee of his. even with an owner like cuban, there is just no way for him to build a contender this upcoming season under the new CBA. clippers are a HC and a couple of better role playing-starters away from there. i believe we can sign that HC and make trades for a pair of shooters and preferably one of them is a stretch big.
whereas for howard, he wants out of LA and out of kobe's shadow, but can't quite walk away from the max money. I'm sure mark cuban can find some wiggle room under the table.
ehhhhh f it.

Mavericks are preparing hot pursuit of free agent Dwight Howard, source saysDALLAS — Now that the Los Angeles Clippers have refused to offer coach Vinny Del Negro a new contract, a source said Wednesday that the Dallas Mavericks believe they have a better chance of acquiring Dwight Howard than acquiring Chris Paul.“I think Chris Paul, depending on who [the Clippers] hire, is going to stay with the Clippers,” the source said. “The Mavericks are really interested in Chris Paul, but I think they want Dwight more. They think they can make them a point guard.”“They’re trying to go after [Howard] pretty hard,” the source said of the Mavs. “They think they’ve got as good enough of a chance as anybody, but I think Houston is a better fit for him.”

They mean go after Dwight and try to get someone like Bayless or Jack.
I don't see them moving the pick without shedding some salary along with it.

Good to hear. With Billups, Butler, Hill, and Barnes on the roster our only young players are Blake, DJ, and Bledsoe. Among those three young guys Blake is the only sure fire producer (Bledsoe is a talent but very turnover prone-i picture him as a future Nate Robinson, a good role player but not a superstar). I think for me two draft picks gives me some sense of security that we wont become old. Two wing players could potentially mature at the right time, perhaps when Billups and Butler have nothing more to give.

Re: Am I the only one interested in the Mavs' lottery pick?
this draft may not have a surefire superstar, but will have plenty of role players that are starter worthy down the line, even at 25th. i am hopeful we end up with one of allen crabbe/tim hardaway jr/reggie bullock trio. if we trade down to second, ryan kelly won't be the worst we can do this year.
CP3 may not necessarily be young, but he sure ain't old yet. as long as his knees hold up our #1 option is still a few years away from reaching 30. we are plenty young enough between him and blake.

It would be nice to have more young players with potential on the wings that may actually contribute at some point. You see other teams getting steals later in the draft like Jimmy Butler (30), Chandler Parsons (38), Kenneth Faried (22), Taj Gibson (26), Marcus Thornton (43), Danny Green (46), etc. It took someone like Danny Green a few years (didn't get much play in Cleveland or 1st season in San Antonio), but he's now a starter on what could be a championship team.

I'm still doing my research, but I'm really feeling Crabbe for us at the moment. With the right coach(es), some of his weaknesses could become corrected or at least made less obvious. Having a player that can shoot like that could be huge. He reminds me of a Rip Hamilton, but with deep range.
