Anthony Bennett a star pick in this draft? What you believe

He seem to be a PF with SF skills.
I like his drive game. Has poor posting offensive game it look like
And his D is pretty bad.
But man this guy could set a NBA's offensive stats on fire.
He could be the top player in this draft class. He is like Drummonds of last draft. Huge upside but large bust potential as well.
Is he worth the risk of a top lotto pick?

I think he has the most star material of the class. As for the "risk" thing. Sure at his worst he ends up some frustrating 14 8 tweener. But no player in this draft has a floor above mediocrity. Noel, McLemore, Porter, Burke, they can all be guys you can get for the MLE when they're 28 at worst

Bennett' intangibles and BBIQ seem awful and undersized PFs who think they're SFs entering the league basically never succeed in the NBA.

At his worst, he washes out of the league

this guy probably saw him the most out of anyone on this board since he's a UNLV fan.
i agree with him. i think he has just as much of a chance at being a star as derrick williams. maybe even less since he's smaller, injury prone with a questionable motor.
im not sure what scouts will come out thinking after reviewing tape of him. he plays in spurts, but the rest of the time it looks like he's half-assing it.

People are forgetting his upside, with his age Larry J was a JuCo
Bennett, 2nd best freshmen of the Year.
Who knows how good Bennett could be if he stays two more season at UNLV and declares at the same age Granmamma did.

He's overweight, seemingly injury prone to some degree, which may be a factor with his weight problem. Also, he has asthma, which isn't convenient when your job is running and jumping constantly.
If he finally put consistent effort into defense he could potentially be a Josh Smith type-player with better shooting range.
On the low end, he could be like the hundreds of tweener forwards we've seen bounce in and out of the league without making a mark on any team they've played with.
That's the problem with this draft, almost every pick falls into the "high risk, high reward" or "low risk, low reward" category. There are no "low risk, high reward" players and probably more "high risk, low reward" players I've seen in a decade.

The D. Williams and Beasley comps are worrying (particularly to me because I thought Williams and Beasley were both going to be great).
He also wasn't that impressive in college (for a top-of-the lottery guy).
I think he's a top 10 pick, but I think top 5 is clearly a reach.

I think he has the ability to be one of the best in this draft, if not the best.
It's up to him whether or not he becomes it.
I think Washington should take a hard look at him. He can play some 3 and 4 alongside okafor, and would give wall anther offensive option along with beal.
If not Washington, Charlotte should (assuming McLemore is off the board)

Hard to say, with the way the rules and defenses play today his post game at 6 7 isnt going to be all star worthy. Doesnt seem like he has the tools to be a good defender either. I think he has good talent but not a must have type of guy.

with his reach, ball handling and hops I think he can overcome his size - seems like a prototypical stretch 4 . As for Williams and Beasley it seems he's much stronger and more physical - that counts for something
Edit - I just checked Bennett's got a pretty close comp to Williams http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Der ... iams-5811/ ugh

Josh Smith is a great defensive player. Is Bennett going to be even average?
Agree with above, the D. Williams comps are worrying. Maybe he is a better offensive player though. If I was a fan of a team in the lotto, he'd make me nervous.

His offensive game is more advanced than Williams, Williams bully his opponents at NCAA level, he played Center a lot, and he was quicker, more explosive and had the range to play out-in and take advantage.
Bennett is more fluid, a better athlete too, and he's not a tweener, he's a PF.
I like the Randolph comp.
The ashtma thing is worrisome though.

what does bennett do better than williams did in college?
ironically, bennett looked his best when khem birch was out early in the season and bennett was playing more C.
wait, randolph who? zach? i don't see that one. for one because zach always played physically. bennett's more of a finesse player than people realize. his physical stature is deceiving. physical players don't get outworked and allow themselves to get pushed around like he does.

If he translates some of that fat to muscle he could be a rich man's Millsap (which is all-star caliber). High ceiling but rarely does a prospect actually reach their ceiling.

if he can turn some of that fat into muscle, if he can turn some of that non-effort into effort, if he learns to play physically all the time instead just when he's driving to the basket, if he can become a really good defender to make up for his lack of size at his position... among other things.
i think he has a long way to go to be compared to millsap. in terms of effort and other intangibles, i think he'd have to become a completely different player.

he's not really fat. he's just endomorphic with a roundish face. sean may was fat, Bennett is just a tank. if you're actually flabby it kills your athleticism but obviously doesnt affect Bennett.

I, as a Suns' fan want Oladipo or Bennet, unless Mclemore falls in place/because of Oladipo...with that. Bennett per scouts is a skilled PF... He is undersized only in height, but that is neutralized by his length, athleticism, and strength. Bennett was just a freshman last year, so a lot of his deficiencies can be cured....
I think he is a Type A player that his young and doesn't try hard all the time, but I don't think that is his character like Cousins. Bennett seems affable to me.
Any player can become a star (see Paul George). I think the only people Bennett will surprise if he reaches stardom are the fans, not the scouts, because the only negatives (outside the norm) I am hearing are from the fans!
said ESPN's Fran Fraschilla,: a longtime collegiate head coach who was an assistant coach at Ohio State and Ohio University. "To me, I actually have him rated at the top of my draft board because of his tremendous rebounding instincts. He's got two great (skills). I shouldn't say great. In this draft there is nobody with any great skills, but he is an above-average rebounder and an above-average shooter.
"So I don't think it's going to affect Anthony from going anywhere in the top three, four or five.''
Speaking with Fraschilla on a conference call before the recent NBA combine in Chicago, ESPN's Chad Ford agreed.
"I think that means that there would probably be zero hit to his draft stock at all,'' Ford said. "I agree with Fran that to me he's a top-five pick in this draft and could very well be the best player in this draft.'
I guess these guys disagree with a lot of you.
