The temporal bone is the most complex bone in the human body. It houses many vital structures, including the cochlear and vestibular end organs, the facial nerve, the carotid artery, and the jugular vein. A temporal bone fracture can involve none or all of these structures. Associated trauma to other cranial nerves (other than the facial nerve; ie, VI [abducens], IX [glossopharyngeal], X [vagus] and XI [spinal accessory] can also cause paralysis.
The temporal bone is the place that Lance Stephenson was hit. It is one of the most vulnerable areas of a human being. It's easy to injure and some of those injuries can be quite serious.
You really should avoid telling "what you'd do" when it's clear that you don't know anything about head injuries.
Even if no injury occurs a hit in the temple can easily disorient you and create dizziness for a little while.
You are free to test it, by the way. Have a friend of yours to run towards you, jump and smack you with his "forearm" to the temple. See what happens then. You aren't going to feel very well
I stand by what I said, I wouldn't touch the top of my head, especially after minimal contact. And if he was so disoriented and dizzy, why didn't he have a problem standing up and walking right after getting up?

It's ridiculous that Wade gets away with a suspension but JR didn't. I do feel like that JR elbow cost the Knicks their postseason though

The Knicks were never going to beat Indiana this year, never. Maybe next year.. but not with the squad they had this year. You can point to Smith letting up after he got the 6moy trophy.. or the trash talk about how if he would've played the game he got suspended they would've won.. or the black suits.. The Ny Knicks playoff check finally bounced.. that was it... but boy was it a large check. Just a classic case of a team that played themselves and the fans.

From the looks.. both guys should have been suspended.

Lol. If that's true, JR is pretty emotionally weak, and the Knicks aren't going to win anything relying on a player that fragile as their second scorer.
Lol. If Wade has to resort to kicking guys in the nuts and fore arming guys in the head, what does that say about him?
He's not a great person? Does have two rings though, and is probably getting more.
A great person or a great player? Great person? Great people don't kick other people in the nuts or forearm other people cause you're frustrated with your own play. Great player? Yep, he's been a great player.
But you may be missing the point. Unless the rule book has changed, what the player has done, how many championships won, how many All Star appearances, etc, has what to do exactly with being excused for what should have been a suspension? If JR Smith, a loudmouth, knucklehead gets a suspension for something that is worthy of a suspension, then Wade should as well. What a players personality is, how successful he's been, has nothing to do with breaking the rules...a fouls' a foul regardless of who commits it, a flagrant is a flagrant regardless of who commits it.

It didn't help them that's for sure. The Knicks biggest problem in the Indiana series was not having anyone that can really put the ball in the basket besides Anthony. That allowed the Pacers to basically play Anthony tight and force anyone else to try to beat them. That someone else was Smith. With Smith mentally out of it as soon as he came back from that suspsension (and it could have been the suspension, it could have been something else, it could have been a combination of things) whatever chance they had went out the window. But still, the bottom line is it appears that the NBA league office is basically protecting a superstar and trying to make this series as close as possible. True or not, that's exactly what it looks like. And without Wade...their 2nd option...the Heat could be in more trouble than it seems like they are already.

Now that's just flat out wrong.. in the heat of the moment in competition an athlete can make a mistake and still be considered a great person.

Sure if that was a mistake. But how many of those "mistakes" have he made? I mean honestly. Heck, JR Smith made a mistake (he admitted it was afterwards) by throwing that elbow to try to clear out Jason Terry. Bottom line still is both connected and if one (the softer connection) was worth a suspension, then the harder one should have as well. If Wade was a great person then he'd understand and admit it and be able to come back after his 1 game suspension and play harder and be more conscientious going forward of not making the same type of "mistakes" (cause he's a great person).

It says his physical skills are eroding, which means he's on the downhill slope of his career and he can't cope.
Probably but "great people" handle it better than kicking other guys nuts and throwing forearms into temples.

The truth is that you haven't been hit in the temple. Standing by what you said means nothing because you have not experienced it.
You don't mess with someone''s head. It's simple as that.

I believe JR got ejected AND suspended a game for an elbow while performing a basketball action. Wade being allowed to play after a wrestling move reeks of favoritism.
I don't like ANY suspensions in the playoffs but if they're going to have it, you can't only suspend non-stars

Wade should not and did not get suspended.
The league got it right this time.
However, the non call foul on Hibbert fouling Bosh in the fourth quarter should have been called, but was not, and of course it will never be mentioned here on this forum with the amount of hate for the Heat.

Terry reached for the ball. Once. Then JR swung. Comon man. Wade's was worse but Smith was just stupid.
Unless Terry has orangutan arms he wasn't anywhere near able to get to the ball where JR Smith was holding it come on. Look at how far back Smith had the ball. But yes, agreed, what Smith did was obviously not smart.

I think they're both worthy of a suspension... I'm with you there. But I've done some foul stuff on the basketball floor and still think I'm a good guy... when i'm competing I just tend to see red. Now granted.. who knows what Wade is like in person.. most of these guys are pricks... all you have to do is hear stories from people who have taken care of them in the service industry.. but we just can't say just because he's done some dirty stuff on the basketball floor that he's not a good guy. That's just not fair.. unless he has a history of doing unsavory stuff off the court.

Any elbow to the face or head should be punished by suspension unless it's completely clear it was an accident.. in Wade's case I don't think you can definitively say it was.

Actually I'm not even sure where the Wade great person or not came from, the poster that mentioned it kind of came out of left field with that and I just ran with it. But, yep, bottom line for me is that if one was worth an ejection, then the other should have been as well. Can't argue heat of playoffs, since both plays happened in the playoffs. Can't argue physical game or tough series, since both were played in physical games and both projected to be tough series (Knicks hadn't beaten Boston in how long?). Bottom line...if they suspended Smith they should have suspended Wade. And how good or bad a person Wade is (and I'm sure he's a more congenial person than JR Smith is off the court) shouldn't really matter in terms of suspension.

Re: Should Wade get suspended
What is the significance of upgrading it to flagrant one? Is there some number of non-regular fouls that leads to a suspension?
