DUDE WTF! i left at the top of the ninth when the orioles made it 5-2 and i just came back to check on the reactions after an assumed loss and found out we WON!??!?!? wtf. can't believe i missed that ****.

Yah, turned off the radio at the end of the 8th so I didn't have to subject my wife to more of my disapproving grunts. Of course they come back when I finally decide to not subject myself to the torture.

I turned off my [totally legal means by which I watch games via the internet] in disgust in the top of the ninth, as well. But being me, I started watching again before the bottom of the inning had even begun...this is a regular occurrence.

Occasionally, I'll leave the Raptors off. Generally not the Jays, though; I turned off Friday's game and left for a bit. Came back even though we were down 9-3 last I'd seen, with Ramon freaking Ortiz on the mound.

LOL I do this all the time with the raps. Watch our ten point lead evaporate then turn the game off in disgust, only to turn it back on minutes later and watch us implode even further. But every now and then i'm rewarded with a comeback which raises my hopes for the season again. Only to be crushed again after the next game

I stopped watching too but thank god the PVR was still going and set for an extra 30 mins, just caught the Kawasaki hit and score before it stopped recording.

Awesome win. This team needs to string some wins together but it's a shame the starting rotation is so hurt that keeps us from even having a chance.

Btw, who else here actually trusts Kawasaki in RISP? I seem to always have a feeling he will hit a blooper for a hit when you need him to.

People have all kinds of feelings, and then a guy like Kawasaki gets a few clutch hits those little feelings from before become "confirmed" and blown out of proportion. Sure, it's fun that Kawasaki has had a good couple games. It's also kinda sad that the biggest reason we've had to be happy this season is cheering for a quirky little guy that looks and plays like he should be in little league. I know I'm a Debbie Downer but I'll be a lot happier when Reyes is back and the fans in Buffalo can go wild for Muni.

I don't think they'll send Kawasaki down (at least I hope not). Especially since he's such a fan favorite. Izturis should be the odd man out, but at the same time I would like them to have more bats on the bench.

For now, I don't think they'll send him down Kawasaki if he keeps maintaining an OBP anywhere close to his current .345 (good for 3rd on the team). Of course, that may be asking quite a bit of his limited skillset.

What about that makes you think I haven't watched plenty of games? The fact that I don't believe a guy that can't hit his way out of a wet paper bag is going to continue to walk 13% of the time? Without that he's nothing, and not nearly good enough at defense to make up for his bat. He's a better defender than Bonifacio, sure, but the same can be said for probably half of the middle infielders in the minor leagues.

If only half the middle infiielders are better than Bonifacio and you admit Kawasaki is better then doesn't that make him a major leaguer based on defense, average hitting for a number 9 hitter and a good walk ratio?

During his five-plus years with the Jays, John McDonald posted a WAR of 1.6 in 549 games and 1453 PAs; that'd be a WAR/162 of 0.47, or a WAR/650 of 0.72. In his short time with the Jays, Kawasaki has posted 0.4 WAR...at current pace, he'd post a WAR/162 of 1.75, or WAR/650 of 2.25.

Remains to be seen whether he can keep it up, but at the moment he's very much playing like a useful backup middle infielder, this being a league so lacking in quality options at shortstop that Yuni Betancourt has been permitted to be persistently bad for the best part of a decade, both awful in the field and posting a career wOBA lower than that which Kawasaki has managed with us, for good measure.
