I'm open minded, I'll settle for Wiggins, Parker, Gordon, or Harrison.

We were a 50% team before bbd went down

Add vuc+moe+Harris with extra year under their belt

+a proper back up pg

And u r not a bottom 7 team anymore, I just don't get people rooting for 'we r gonna suck'

Nobody rooted about sucking, we are just being realistic.

I'm not going to lie I hope we suck next year because I know we aren't going to contend for a championship and the last place you want to be is that team in the late lotto or 8th seed. I would much rather bomb next year and have a shot at a franchise changing player like Wiggins, Parker, Randle, or Hezonja.

Currently we have 8 players with 1 or 2 years experience in the NBA and we are about to draft 2 more, basicly Nelson, AA and BBD are only vets we have at the moments. Young teams like that just don't win too many games.

I'm not rooting for us to suck, but I'm in no rush to get into the playoffs either. But I don't blame those for rooting for the Magic to suck. Take a trip over to the Milwaukee board and see how happy fans are floating around the 8th seed year in and year out, never playing poorly enough to get that franchise player.

Don't get me wrong, I d live to get a top 5 pick next year but I don't think we can get it unless we get lucky in the draft draw

we are probably capable of winning more games than we did this season, but i think strategy is what prevented us from doing so. that's why i don't think BBD or AA will be around much longer. we're gonna keep letting the young guys try to figure it out on the court, and i don't think they've figured out how to turn their individual performances into W's just yet.

Add Randle, Smart, Selden and Hill on my list. (Hill/Smart if we don't draft a PG this year.)

Basically as long as we land in the top 7 i'll be content on how we draft next year. As long as our decision is made by Hennigan and we're moving in the right direction.

What we do/how we do will be indicated by who we draft, and what deals Rob makes. If Davis and/or Afflalo are gone we will be bottom 3 again, if one if present we could POSSIBLY be bottom 10. Personally I'm rooting for us to be bottom 2, a top 5 pick next year will likely get us

Wiggins
Parker
Randle
Smart
Harrison

I would be ecstatic with any of them, also say we did get #5, and lets say NOP got #3 I reckon we could trade up for Randle with picks/player. Top 3 I'm having a party because as many have said, what we got here doesn't make us contenders, especially with a class like this coming in. I have posted my "DREAM" 2014 preseason lineup/s here before and I'l do it again, something we can legitimately build around

Burke/Jameer
Harkless/Lamb
WigginsParker/FA
Harris/Nicholson
Vucevic/KOQ

or

Burke/Jameer
Harkless/Lamb
Harris/FA
Randle/Nicholson
Vucevic/KOQ

If we went into 2014 with that I would be over the moon, I'm not saying we HAVE to take Burke, I'm open to MeLemore, it just means Harkless shifts to 6th man and Jameer starts. That however is what I would love to see us build the final pieces around depending on needs and development, for example Harkless doesn't develop into a starting 2 so we move him to 6th man at 3 and sign outright a starting 2 guard.

Please also note I haven't included any compensation for Davis or Afflalo because that is a whole different topic

Good article by Josh Robbins on drafting for talent and not need. Disregard if this has been posted already.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-magic/os-josh-robbins-magic-insider-orlando-magic-draft-20130524,0,6959891.column
The media’s saturation coverage of the NFL Draft unfortunately has skewed the way sports fans think about the NBA Draft.

And, perhaps as a result, some fans of the Orlando Magic are losing sight of what this draft really should be about for the franchise.

Too many fans want the Magic to draft “for need.”

The refrain goes like this: The Magic have a significant deficiency at point guard; therefore, the team must — absolutely must!!! — draft a point guard.

I hear it all the time.

On sports talk radio. When I run into strangers or friends in town. When I open my work e-mail every morning.

But that line of thinking is woefully shortsighted.

It reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of where the Magic stand at this moment.

The Magic have just completed Year One of a long, potentially arduous, rebuilding project.

In the June 27 draft, Magic officials need to select the player they think has the best chance to develop into a perennial All-Star, regardless of position.

If the best high-ceiling player happens to be a center, draft him, even though the Magic already have a talented, young player at that position, Nik Vucevic.

If the best high-ceiling player happens to be a small forward, draft him, even though Maurice Harkless has the potential to be a top-notch defender.

The same goes for the power forward, shooting guard and point guard spots.

If this were the NFL, my advice would be different.

Pro football is a sport in which teams often should draft for need.

In the NFL, of course, there are far more prospects available in every draft, and the difference in quality among the top-notch players at different positions often isn’t as profound as it is in the NBA.

Pro football also is a sport in which league officials systematically have created a state of perpetual parity. Teams with awful records one season are rewarded with easier schedules the next season, while teams with great records are punished the next season with tougher schedules.

The problem with this year’s NBA Draft is that there’s no single franchise-altering talent available — no one along the lines of Shaquille O’Neal in 1992, a LeBron James in 2003 or even an Anthony Davis in 2012.

Or at least that’s what the experts think.

The question is: Is there a hidden gem out there somewhere? In 2010, the Indiana Pacers already had small forward Danny Granger when they used the 10th overall pick to select another wing, Paul George. What a brilliant move. George has emerged as the Pacers’ best player, and he was just selected to the 2012-13 All-NBA Third Team.

Many Magic fans hope this year’s gem is a point guard.

Jameer Nelson isn’t the team’s long-term answer at the position because he’s 31 years old and because the team is years away from title contention.

To be sure, there are some intriguing point guard prospects in this year’s draft, most notably Michigan’s Trey Burke, Syracuse’s Michael Carter-Wiliams and Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum.

But do any of them have a higher upside than Kentucky center Nerlens Noel or Kansas shooting guard Ben McLemore?

That’s the question Magic GM Rob Hennigan and assistant GMs Scott Perry and Matt Lloyd need to answer before June 27.

Luckily for the franchise, Hennigan and his crew didn’t listen to fans who didn’t want the team to trade away J.J. Redick at the trade deadline. The Magic ultimately traded Redick and two others for a package of players that included a high-upside youngster, Tobias Harris.

Now, once again, the Magic front office needs to tune out the noise.

Has anyone on this board ever entertained the idea of trying to sign Nick Calathes from Lokomotiv in the Euroleague?

I played against him and Chandler a few times in high school and followed him a little bit until he got drafted by the Mavs and then opted to play overseas.

Everyone is on the tall PG bandwagon so a 6-6 PG with good passing skills on a cheap contract doesn't sound like a bad idea? Maybe just bring him in for workouts to see how he'd fair vs the draft guys we're looking at?

His statline overseas looks pretty solid and I know the kid can pass the ball. Thoughts?

How long do the mavs have rights to him? If they even do?

They have his rights until they cut or trade Nick.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure we only have one pick.

My bad, I was thinking first round only. I cant see our second round pick making the team based on its current construction. Have to be some trades and players getting released.
