Moody? What does that have to do with anything? Playing with Kobe could easily make you a prick. He has handled it well. In addition, he had NO idea what his role was in D'Antoni's system. Pringles had him coming off the bench, not playing late in the game, it was very inconsistent.
His age isn't a huge factor because he never relied on his athleticism to be productive. He has a high basketball IQ, is a very good passer, especially for a big man, and will accept whatever role he's given, so long as it is defined.
Coming off of career lows. Yes. Again, look no further than D'Antoni, and a season where he couldn't catch a break on his health. He had a 20 rebound game right before the season ended, as well as three triple-doubles in his last seven games. Three. That's impressive for a guy in the prime of his career, let alone Gasol.

Gasol is an expiring contract yes?

If the Rockets don't get DHoward, i'll offer Thomas Robinson, White and capspace for him.

Ignoring anything else, Lakers get cut out of this deal 46 out of 3 times.

This is wildly off base for the Wizards.

We had a top 5 defense with Okafor and wouldn't generate any real lasting advantage by bringing in Tyson Chandler, who's extra year torpedo's our 2014 cap space. It's much more convenient to simply keep Okafor and let him expire than to trade Okafor straight up for Chandler.

Okafor with Beal for Chandler?

The point of our veteran bigs is to put the young guys in a position to win.

Lakers wouldn't do this. It adds 13+ mill to the 2014 cap and essentially ends pursuit of any top tier FA.

The Lakers would absolutely do this and move Barea to a third team. That said Roy's contract is gone and two PGs is a hefty price for Minny to pay. Pau won't be moved. The offers aren't good enough. The key for L.A. is to improve their bench and add athletic defenders, perhaps move for a combo guard in the late first. Simple stuff.

Most obvious trade ever:
Pau for Zach Randolph

Randolph was an epic fail against the Spurs but the Memphis fans would still revolt most likely.

Cavs get Gasol, Blake
Lakers get Speights, CJ Miles, #31, #33, +-18M TPE (!!!)

Cavs get vets to help them grow into a legit playoffs team.

PG: Irving | Blake
SG: Waiters | Ellington (restricted FA)
SF: Gee | Karasev (19th pick)
PF: Thompson | Varejao | Noel
C: Gasol | Zeller | Noel

Lakers retool with younger and cheaper players. At 31/33 they could get nice role players like Bullock or Kabongo. They amnesty MWP.

I like this, we maybe able to move up the draft packaging those 2nd's as well and Speights and CJ Miles are excellent depth/role players.

He certainly wouldn't have to be included. Just figured I'd send them a PF who can start and space the floor.

I've been advocating a Pierce/Gasol swap for awhile.

If I were the Cavs, I'd then be poking around the Grizzlies to see how much they'd want added to do a Randolph-Gasol swap. Does Pau+#19 do it?

I'd offer David Lee + Andris Biedrins or Richard Jefferson. Works great for the Lakers if they keep Dwight (Dwight masks Lee's defensive liabilities and Lee masks Dwights offensive).

A team of

Nash
Kobe
Metta (or other)
Lee
Howard

seems like it would mesh well.

Gasol gives the Warriors an improved post player and an equally good passer which they need.

no thx, more money to pay to lee/whoever this upcoming season and waste our cap room for 2014/2015, not worth it for a player like Lee.

Hate to break it to you, but you're cap problem isn't 2014/15, it's next year (you have less than $10M on the books for 2014/15). If you are able to sign Dwight, you go way over and pay 2nd year offender taxes. If you don't then you basically might as well tank next year. With what you have this next year, Lee would be minimal in 2014/15.

Even if you release all the players who you have options on next year (getting you probably right at the lux line) as soon as you sign someone decent (which you will in order to field a team) you're going back over. So whatever you do, you're between a rock and hard place. Your team needs a direction and with all the uncertainly existing down in LA, I don't think you have one yet.

If you really want to move Gasol, then this is what's out there and from I've seen thus far, there aren't too many who are going to be willing to bail you guys out, unless they think they are being fairly compensated. You better be planning on amnestying some one, that's all I can say at this point but this is a reasonable offer compared to what's being put out there, like it or not.

That's not such a bad deal for L.A. It gives them some capable role players and saves quite a bit of salary. I'd ask for 19 back instead of the 2nds but Kupchak may prefer the 2nds, as the talent differential isn't huge between 19-32 and the two selections increase your odds.
