I think I'm the only person on the planet, aside from judges, who scored it for Bermudez. I figured it would be a SD anyway.

Ridiculous: none of the rounds in Stephens/Payan being 10-9.
These judges are allergic to 10-8 rounds.

SDM wrote:They will adjust. Guys that are right for 170 are right for 177... it's a couple pounds of fat and a couple pounds of muscle. Then there's guys between weight classes... It's about drained Franklin at 185 vs. Fat Franklin at 205 who gets dwarfed by guys like Forrest. Franklin at 192 is perfect. The mix is fairly even between the fighters in their optimal division and guys fighting a weight class up or down.
With folks at lighter weights especially dropping weight classes, I think we're seeing a lot of tweeners who would be more comfortable if they weren't as drained trying to squeeze into another weight class.
Frankie Edgar dropping from LW 162 to FW 152, for example, makes more sense for his bodytype than dropping from a "natural" 155 to 145. Same with Aldo... 145 isn't his natural weight class, he's outgrowing it, but 152 might be more palatable. I think simply raising the limits by 7-8 pounds would give you much better, more comfortable, less drained, optimal fighters going forward and will reduce strain on the bodies of veterans.
I'm not sure I see the logic.
If a guy that is right for 170 is right for 177, isn't a guy who is right for 162 right for 170? It's a pound more, and a slightly larger percentage of his body weight, but hopefully you see what I'm saying. And does the 3 pounds for Edgar and Aldo really make that big of a difference?
IMO changing the weight classes just causes a different set of guys to be stuck between weight classes. You can say they would adjust, but couldn't we say the same about the current crop of guys?
To really accommodate everyone, there would have to be more weight classes. Like I suggested earlier, I could get behind a 155, 165, 175 split, as well as a class between MW and LHW, be it 195, or some other number that accounts for a new LHW limit. Hell, with the talent at the two weight classes, I could get behind just making a 162 division.

More impressive I'd think if you only needed to get 3, but Nurmagomedov set a UFC record with 21 takedowns.

I forgot to watch the Prelims from this card that I recorded. Watched last night, I scored the Halloway/Bermudez fight 2 rds to 1 for Halloway. Sucks when judges take wins away from fighters due to poor judging.
