Gay for Gooden + Moute + MIL 2014 lottery protected 1st (mil fans dont do this but mil owners do)
Amir + Gray for Perkins + Tor 2013(12th) + Dal 2014 1st top 20 protected
3M cash + TOR 2015 2nd + TOR 2016 2nd for Dal 2013 1st(13th)
Nothing for Biedrens + Jefferson + GSW 2014 lottery protected 1st

Not counting the players
In
ATL 2014 2nd
Utah 2013 1st(14th)
MIL 2014 lottery protected 1st
Tor 2013(12th)
Dal 2014 1st top 20 protected
Dal 2013 1st(13th)
GSW 2014 lottery protected 1st

Out
TOR 2015 2nd
TOR 2016 2nd
TOR 2017 2nd

Why would we trade Demar DeRozan for a just a second round pick? Does that make any sense? Lowry for the 14th pick in this draft? Who did you have in mind? Why would the notoriously cheap Milwaukee owners take on Gay's contract? And the end goal of this seems to be acquiring mid-first round and second round draft picks. Why? How does any of this make the team better?

Win-Now (aka Team Headcase):

Current Roster -
Lowry/Telfair/Lucas III
DeRozan/Ross
Gay/Anderson/Fields
Johnson/Bargnani/Acy
Valanciunas/Gray

Trade:
Demarcus Cousins & Chuck Hayes to Toronto
Jonas Valanciunas & Linas Kleiza to Sacramento

Sacramento gets out of a large contract in Chuck Hayes and gets a very promising centre to build around.
Toronto gets a franchise-calibre talent at the 5 and a back-up big.

Trade:
Brandon Jennings (S&T) to Toronto
Kyle Lowry + Fields to Milwaukee

Milwaukee gets a reasonably priced Lowry as a solid 1-year replacement for Jennings.
Toronto gets a very talented starting PG.

Trade:
Spencer Hawes & Jason Richardson to Toronto
Andrea Bargnani to Philadelphia

I have no justification for Philadelphia. This was just a rumoured trade around the deadline.

Free Agency:
Full MLE to target - Jarrett Jack

Roster:
Jennings/Jack
DeRozan/Ross/Richardson
Gay/Anderson
Johnson/Hayes/Acy
Cousins/Hawes/Gray

This team might lead the league in technical fouls, but it also has enough young talent and potential to actually challenge a veteran team. It would need to take its playoff bumps and bruises, but it could eventually get there.

What about

Andrea Bargnani

for

Kendrick Perkins
#12

we get out pick back by taking one of the worst contracts in the league. we may be able to snag Muhammad with the pick.

I'd do that OKC deal... but I have a sneaky feeling OKC is planning on Perkins + #12 + Lamb / Jones for Varejao or Gortat

With Masai being offered a such a long-term deal, along with TL's recent comments, I could see us blowing it up.

1. Acquire 13th pick from Dallas (Schroeder)

2. Move out Gay to WAS for 3/Okafor, draft Oladipo (or McLemore if available). Gay could fit well with Wall and Beal. Made more affordable due to Wall's contract relative to his performance this season.

3. Package Amir/Ross to Spurs for Splitter

4. Demar/JL3 to Minny for Ridnour/Williams

5. Amnesty Bargnani, sign JJ Redick

Schroeder/Ridnour
Oladipo/Reddick
Fields/Singleton
Splitter/Williams
Valanciunas/Okafor

Tank for Wiggins or Parker, use 2013/2014 to develop core of Val/Ola/Schroeder/Splitter

This group would be solid and gritty defensively, excellent rebounders. Could struggle a bit offensively but Redick off the bench would help. I also think that Val and Splitter could be very effective offensively, so that could potentially be a non-issue. Tanking would get us a great shot at either Wiggins or Parker which would (hopefully) provide us with an elite offensive talent. Really hinges on Schroeder's game translating effectively in the NBA... Bring Ridnour in as a quality back up who could start if needed.

If we rebuild

Gay to nets

Humpries , telotvic, 22nd pick this year or future first to raptors

Derozan to Dallas for Marion and 2014 first

Kleiza Lowry. To okc for Jackson lamb Perkins an a future first

Amnesty bargs unless you can get a prospect or pick for him

sweetcity wrote:There have been some interesting articles on Golden St and David Lee not being a fit because he is a better C statistically. When you look at their lineup, that might be true. Having Carl Landry play PF and Green/ Barnes play the small 4 is really solid..

Golden St is going to need some extra $ to resign Carl Landry and Jarret Jack.

What Im thinking is

Andrea + Gray + Kleiza for Lee + Bierdrins

Deal saves G ST the final year of Lee's contract and they will need cap space for Barnes / Thompson

Lowry - (Collison?)
DD - Ross - Anderson
Gay - Anderson - Fields
Amir - (Brand?) Fields - Acy
Lee - JV - Bierdrins - Acy

I'd argue this is the best team we've ever had

Not a bad team and I'd agree with you - quite possibly the best team we ever had. However, the 2014 draft is going to be great and I'd rather tank this year away for a Top 5 pick.

Not to mention, this team is in cap hell and would then be forced to re-sign Lowry. Biedrins + Lee is a over $20mil I'm salary moving... I think GS has to sweeten the pot a little. I guess it depends on how Lee is viewed.

I'd deal Gay + TOR 2015 (lotto protected) 1st round pick for Salmons, Hayes and Cousins. That's my best offer. Because trading a 2014 first or Val defeats the purpose of trading for Cousins in the first place since what we want to construct is a young team that can grow together.

You're not the only one. I can almost feel that's exactly what's going to happen. It's just gonna be about who bites first but one of them will because both Phoenix and Cleveland have no reason to hang on to them and both are great fits for OKC on very cap friendly deals when you consider their production.

If Lowry's being dealt, I'd rather send him to the Clippers or Utah. Utah can send picks or young players and Clippers can send Bledsoe. Or Utah can get Bledsoe, L.A gets Lowry and we get picks and/or prospects from Utah.

But I do think we should buy that pick from Dallas if available for purchase

Problem with Utah And pac is contracts don't work out unless you do a sign and trade for millasap or Bledsoe and although I like both they might keep us out of the basement

In those series of trades the most valuable asset we get is making sure our pick will be a top one

Jennings is also trash, a player who hucks and chucks, does not play a single lick of defense either.

Have to agree with this. Collison got benched for both Derek Fisher AND Mike James this year. Jennings is a downgrade from Lowry imo.

Not sure we can be the team where castaways turn their careers around, not with our current coach and our lack of winning/experienced veterans.

Combining multiple rumours here:

Houston trades:
Thomas Robinson for nothing (Rockets wanting to clear cap space)
Washington trades:
Trevor Ariza for Andrea Bargnani (Washington wanting a stretch-4)
Toronto trades:
Andrea Bargnani for Trevor Ariza and Thomas Robinson (Getting rid of Bargnani)

Link.

i like it, only problem is i dont see where Ariza fits.

Derozan/Ross
Gay/Ariza/Fields

essentially Fields would never play.

I'd just move Ariza to another team. I think Grunfield might the only GM stupid enough to give up expirings for Bargnani.

Moving Bargaini or fields for a core piece is the move the next GM needs to make if we are staying with our current starting 5.

Attach a 2015 pick if needed. If he can pull off that heist he"ll automatically be the best GM we've ever have and prolly be in the running for EOY

Well Beal & Wall expressed a need for a stretch PF so I could see Bargnani there.

To me Bargnani for Nene makes sense but don't think Ujiri would go for that after already trading Nene away.
