Thomas Robinson do anything for anyone?
Rockets are giving him away for the best offer to clear cap room for Dwight Howard.

Re: Thomas Robinson do anything for anyone?
I'd consider trading the 21st pick for him. A big, athletic body has to be good for something. At worst maybe Stromile Swift v2? I guess if they're looking to not have his salary whatsoever, offer some future second round picks. I wouldn't be upset if the front office doesn't consider trading for him, though. He doesn't really have any particularly good basketball skill from what I've seen other than what his athleticism allows him to do (and I was never positive if it would translate, and I never saw him play last year).

Its very telling that the Rockets are looking to unload him for cap space after the Kings traded him for a pu pu platter of mediocre players halfway into his rookie season.

This is a deal taylor made for the Jazz and Dennis Lindsay. He worked for them, they know him and they should be one of our new trade partners like Philly was/is with KOC's contacts and friends there and in Brooklyn from his ties to Philly.
We can take him on straight up, and should only have to do two simple things: Send our #46 pick, and Ante Tomic. That gives them something to sell their fan base. Heck, I even think we could get their #34 pick out of it... but would do it straight up. If they land Dwight who cares that they cleared a guy to do it. They would probably prefer a future pick but Tomic is the perfect kind of guy that is the equivalent to that. Some say Tomic would be rated in the top 15 of this draft... so thats a player they don't have to bring over... they don't want a pick because they are trying to preserve cap space.
This is totally doable and I would love it if we could add the #34 to package with a potential move up.
My next move would be to take on Kendrick Perkins for #12 from OKC.
#12 Dennis Schroeder
#14 Shabazz Mohammad
#21 Gorgui Dieng
#34 Trade to Miami for the rights to Philly's First Rounder.

Well its not fair to compare tomic at all due to age and the fact that teams draft based on potential... If you throw out the rules and put tomic in the draft on the rookie scale sans buyout... He would go near the top.

I'd be willing to do that. I'd probably do the #21 but would try and work it for something lower like a 2nd rounder.

Hard to get excited about a guy who's been given up on by 2 teams in a 1 year career.

at this point, the fact the kings gave up on him is almost a compliment. they waved JJ hickson, who obviously has value, as he showed since then. actually, i'm having trouble thinking of ANY player who arrived to the kings in the past few seasons and did well. almost any player i can remember only declined and regressed there recently. look at hickson, landry, outlaw, salmons and more. they all declined and regressed once they got there, and succeeded elsewhere, both before their arrival and after. look at their rookies - whiteside, honeycutt, jimmer, robinson, all couldn't make it. evans only regresses every year. cousins still doesn't comes close to realizing his potential, killed a coach (maybe two now smart is gone) and doesn't appear to get it. the only ones who made it are thomas (sort of), jason thompson (sort of, though i bet the kings regret the contract they gave him), and marcus thornton - who only appear to be doing better because he only shoot and doesn't pass so his stats are better. and in practice, neither of their players makes the team better or contributes to winning. even patterson regressed after the trade to the kings.
the fact is, the kings is a horrible place for players to be right now, and has been that way for a few seasons now. don't hold it against robinson for not making it there. as for the houston situation - they are aiming high, and he's paying the price. they still have the very promising DMO at PF, as well as terrence jones, and even royce white (who nobody will touch).

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I'm not sure this is Houston giving up on Thomas Robinson so much as them calculating that having a chance at Dwight Howard is better than hoping Robinson turns into something special.

Hope Jazz can get him on cheap.
Lasy yeay this period, Robinson try to be #1 pick. This year he is going to find the 3 house. Really Poor.

Id rather take a chance on the 21th pick. Giannis Adetokoubo, Shane Larkin, Rudy Gobert, Tony Mitchell
