Finals Tickets (out of towner on vacation)

Post#1 » by raps_baller » Mon May 20, 2013 6:11 pm

I plan to be in Miami for a vacation (coming from Toronto) around June 6-10. The finals start on June 6 so I am assuming game 2 will be either the 8th or 9th. I want to go to game 2. Are tickets already sold out for the finals or do they go on sale right when the heat make it to the finals? There is already a ton of tickets on stubhub but I would prefer to try to buy them officially and if not, go to stubhub. How should I go about doing this?

Also, any tips and recommendations on Miami would be great. I am going with my girlfriend. We are around 24 years old and are spending around 3 or 4 nights. A couple things we are wondering... should we do the drive to key west? How nice is it and is it worth the trip if only in Miami for 4 days. Also, I would like to rent a moped or some sort of scooter to travel around Miami... what's the best place to do this? Any restaurant recommendations, attractions are all welcome. I am planning just to browse Yelp for restaurants and I hear I should spend most, if not all my time, at south beach. Also, any cheap, decent hotel recommendations would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

It's a long ass drive to Key West, several hours, wouldn't recommend it.

Finals tickets won't go on sale until Miami actually makes the Finals. You should probably follow the Heat on twitter, @MiamiHEAT, they announced the ticket sale for the ECF last week and had a special advance sale for twitter followers:

[tweet]https://twitter.com/MiamiHEAT/status/335061842827288577[/tweet]

The ones on stubhub now are prob season ticket holders, who get all their tickets for every round at the start of the playoffs

South Beach is definitely fun but not sure what your budget is. I'm a fan of BLT Steak for dinner. Everything is delicious, service is great, and it doesn't leave you feeling like **** from over-eating really rich food afterwards (a real danger at Prime 112).

If you want to get off the beaten path a little and treat your girl to a cool day, the Fairchild Gardens are a nice date spot. But you need a car to get there, moped won't do it, cause it's down in the gables. Certainly not for everyone. The drive down is cool too, drive through the prettiest part of Miami, the Banyon Tree Canopied roads through the Gables.

This place is awesome and right outside the airport so you can swing by after you land to kick off your trip with some very authentically Cuban food

Go for the Lechon and obviously the fresh juices

I don't mind the long drive. I hear its very nice.

Now, I think I have June 6-11 in Miami. Thinking of 3 days in Miami and 2 driving to Key West. Does that not sound like a good idea?

I always found the drive tedious just to get to Islamorada personally, but I guess whatever floats your boat. The first 1-1.5 hours as I recall are just through Miami exurbs and Homestead etc, not really pretty at all. If you go to the keys definitely take a boat out though

I am confident enough that they will. I'm sure most are as well but I guess there is always a chance.

Well its been pouring rain all day here so theres that. The drive from MIA to KW is beautiful to me its half of the reason I go down there(besides party). If its the closest youll ever be to the AAA than I could understand, you might be able to get a room in homestead for cheap after the game if you dont want to do the drive back after. Restaurants are endless, Yardbird is great but gets insanely busy, theres also Swine in the Gables thats owned by them thats very good. Going to the Grove/Gables is always nice as well plus South Beach. You could also do the Nassau cruise I think they do one that you can do for a day, not 100% never done that. Fort Lauderdale isnt far either and theres a lot to do there as well.

The drive to Key West is very nice but I would say it would take you 4hrs more or less to get all the way there. It's not that far but there's only one road and if you get stuck behind slow drivers for parts of it then you just gotta wait til you can pass. Also you'll probably be stopping along the way which always adds the the time. Then there is more site seeing when your actually there which you'll probably want to stay til night time. It's an all day thing I feel and you probably wouldn't want to drive all the way back the same night (though it's possible).

It rains a lot here in the summer. Usually in the afternoons. Sometimes it just gets very dark and thundering but it doesn't rain (I wouldn't bet on that lol...). There's nothing you can do about it. It can be sunny the 4 days you're here or pouring all 4 days or just some days in the afternoon. Bring a rain coat and hope you don't have to use it. As for sites, I always recommend people go see the Everglades National Park.

Don't go all the way down to Key West. Its really far and not really worth the excursion if you are here for less than a week.

It likely will be raining for a bit on most days.

If you're from out of town Stubhub is probably your best bet for tickets.

I don't get why you don't do what I said and follow that twitter account, and check periodically. It will tell you when tickets are on sale better than anyone on this board can.
