CP3 to the D!!!

Post#1 » by Piston Pete » Fri May 31, 2013 6:12 pm

What are the chances he leaves LA?

I would have said less than a 5% chance, before all this new stuff. Per the wiretap, he's upset at the LAC organization and feels scapegoated.

That plus Sterling is the owner....and how much can he trust the organization anyway because of that....

I still think its unlikely he leaves, but this might be the little opening we needed to at least have a glimmer of hope.

Maybe hiring Byron Scott as coach would help.

If Joe doesn't offer a max deal to Paul he should be fired for not doing his job.

If Paul says no, so be it, but you have to at least make the offer if you have any competence whatsoever as a GM. I guarantee every other team that has capspace that needs a PG will be making a strong pitch, just like every other team that needs a Center is going hard after Dwight. If Joe just sits back and makes no attempt at all, when we have a dire need for an offensive star and a need at that position, and went through all this trouble to get this capspace, if he just goes right out looking at his mediocre players from the start instead he should be fired. Its not like Paul's a RFA where you have to wait a week with your money on hold.

I honestly don't know why we haven't heard anything about the Pistons interest in Paul. You hear about these teams interest in Dwight and preparing to make him an offer. idk wtf the Pistons are doing with their time anymore. It seems like all they do is give courtesy interviews all day. For whats supposed to be the biggest summer in franchise history, with a whole year to prepare, they don't seem to have much of a plan in place

No chance. Better chance of Piston Pete being our pg of the future than CP3!

Yeah, CP3 has approximately the same odds of being our starting point guard on opening day as any of us on this forum do.

I said zero percent chance before the Clippers development, and I still think the odds really aren't any better.

I'm sure the Pistons are interested in Chris Paul. I'm sure there will at least be the obligatory phone call to his agent. I think a lot of things like that go unreported because nothing comes of them.

No way in hell sadly.
I'd have a nice chuckle if that ever happened though.

I read he didn't like that, but in the long run, all the Clippers need to do is come out and definitively state that Paul had nothing to do with him being let go. That's it.

I really don't believe Paul wants to leave LA. Look at all the advertisements he's popped up in since going to the Clips, his national exposure has never been higher. He's making bank right now, and not on a bad team.

He's also in a position to have massive input on the next coach, and could probably dictate to management who needs to go and whom they need to pursue. He's in a fantastic place of leverage, I don't see any reason for him to leave, unless he wanted to get a sign and trade to Miami to play with LeBron.

As for coming to Detroit, it's been ran into the ground, buddy. He's not coming.

Wow, that title was misleading...

Don't we already have a 4 page thread on this CP3 delusion?

They'll have their opportunity to sign him, probably after this next contract when his knees are gone, he can't run, can't create, and only has name value, and Detroit will give him a 4-year 32 million contract.

That sums it up, and it appears the Clipps have done that.

I don't think Paul will make a long term decision about his future based on something that irked him now.

Great point, I'm sure this happens all the time but people never consider this, only to bitch and moan that the Pistons didn't pursue a certain player.

He might visit the Pistons to help drive up his value... folks will go nuts thinking we have a chance.
I hope he doesn't even talk to Joe so we can get on with our real possibilities.

He has Max value as it is. No need to visit the Pistons.
