430 and 450One is the number of games played by Stoudemire since the 2006-2007 season, the other is the number of games played by Barnani since he came into the league in 2006-2007. Guess which one is which?
14.2ppg/5.0rpg/.575FG and 12.7ppg/3.7rpg/.399FGOne is the stats for Stoudemire this season, the other is the stats for Bargnani this season. Guess which one is which?
0 and 1One is the number of 1st round picks the Knicks has this year, the other is the number of 1st round picks the Raptors have this year. Guess which is which?
Vagigi and ScrotumOne is what Stoudemire has. The other is what Bargnani has. Guess which one has which?
I can keep going on and on. The only thing that Bargnani has that is better than Stoudemire is that he's owed less money for the next two seasons (the Knicks will be well over the cap whether they have Stoudemire or Bargnani).
This is a graphical explanation for grass..

...something similar would apply to players on your team compared to players on the other team.
Bargnani has been coddled his whole career. A change of scenery and he might have SOME value.
The reason your numbers are invalid is because Amare has a WORSENING condition where as Barg-gina's problems are metamucil-regular.
Now what this means is trading Amare for Bargs is a managed risk. The loss is that we lose our ONLY potential post scorer. The possible gain is that we essentially get a guy who on offense can cover what we might lose if Copeland walks. Just another thought is that my proposal of Amare for Bargnani involved Rudy Gay. Gay has the most talent in that deal and would be taken as a way to remove 2 bad contracts from TOR in exchange for 1. If you are talking about a straight up Andrea for Amare deal, what else do the Knicks get back? They owe us 8 millions.
Honestly I do believe in a 1 game situation the whole world including this board takes Amare over Bargs.
A better comparison conversation would be built around a far more likely deal:
Novak and Camby for Bargnani.
Toronto solidifies a center rotation, they stand pat with their brand of small ball, add a shooter and remove the symbol of Collangelo's tenure.
Knicks trade 2 guys Woodson will never use for 1 guy Woodson might be able to sculp. Woodson's developmental abilities have been witnessed with Copeland who made strides as a 28 year old. Why not Bargnani?
