Don't sign Ellis. He is poo poo.
I really like 1840s merchant vessels. Basketball on the other hand, I can take it or leave it...

Sign Ellis to be the 6 man (Ginobili type role) Trade Marcus Thorton filler sign and trade for Kyle Kover.

I woud rather just sign Korver in that case. Thornton is cheapr than ellis. If we get ellis, he will start.

He's in his prime right now (27 going on 28 this year), has familiarity with our new coach, and has mutual interest to play for our team and owner (who already loves his game). NBA.com lists Monta on their "HOT LIST: TOP 10 UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS." http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/05/09/hot-list-top-10-unrestricted-free-agents/?ls=nbahpfull And, it's always worth considering a proven guy like him.

I know a lot of fans would love to see Tyreke return, so why not he and Monta play together in the backcourt? Obviously, Tyreke would have to go back to playing point, though. This pairing could at least solve the whole undersized argument because Tyreke can guard the 2 position while Monta is quick enough to guard the PGs of the league like Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook. The obvious drawback to this kind of move would be our flexibility (cap room) going forward. Of course, everything is still predicated on what we do in the draft. Keep/trade Cousins for picks? Etc. However, with all that said, I still like Oladipo w/ the #7 pick...especially if we lose Tyreke.

I'm not saying Ellis is the answer for our woeful team, but I think he does deserve more consideration because he can be of some help and at most a slight hindrance. But, for all we know, Ellis may just be using/leveraging the Kings as a means to getting a bigger contract out of the Bucks.

+1000.

The last time Ellis played with a bigger PG, they were dubbed the best backcourt in the NBA with Baron Davis. FYI, Ellis is a helluva defender when guarding smaller players. If Sac had Evans running the PG and Ellis as SG, a new arena would be built ASAP. No teams would be able to stop these guys in transition and the Kings would be great to watch since the playoff days.

Transition and PO. These things are incompatible.

By PO you mean post offense? If so, of course it does. Take Spurs for example, Parker and Ginobili are great transition players and they can slow it up with Timmy. It is all about balance. Guys like Timmy get rest on fast breaks. The same can be applied with Cousins at the post and Evans & Ellis pushing the ball. Or put Ellis and Cousins on pick and rolls and that would be unstoppable. While I am mentioning the Spurs, Ellis is the only player to get 40+ at SA since MJ in the Popovich era.

No, I mean when push comes to shove the other team will take away your transition, so you better be prepared for 100% of half court battle. The only team that retained their transition game in PO was Phoenix of last decade.

I am not saying all they have is transition or have a run and gun style lol. I am saying those two complement each other very well and both are 1 man fast breaks, which is valuable to any team. Their abilities would apply tremendous pressure against opponents. Sac would have a very balanced team with DMC, JT and Patterson to slow it down with post offense. Also, Ellis is very good at breaking down defenses in the half court. Most of his 40 pts came inside the paint with lay ups in half ct against Popovich's Spurs at SA (no player has scored this much at SA since MJ).

Here is what I am talking about, look how effortlessly he breaks down the Spurs D in half court http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k7AsiETDCIw 28pts in 1st half.

Return to Sacramento Kings
