Lol 2.0.

I won't go as far as say Ariza is a bad contract because he is an expiring but he definitely has no value at all. Martell Webster is better than him at this point and I doubt Webster gets paid more than 2-3 mil a year while Ariza is paid 7+.

That being said, I'd do an Ariza/Stuckey swap no picks included. Washington been searching for a combo guard for a while and Stuckey would be decent behind Wall/Beal. Detroit needs a SF and while Ariza is average at best that's still much better than Singler/Middleton.

I'd definitely be interested in an Ariza/Stuckey swap. Fills a much bigger hole and need for us. I'm not saying Ariza is great or anything, but I also think you're really underrating him. $7 million a year is probably slightly too much for him at this point in his career. He probably deserves more like $5-6 a year. He's good not great on both sides of the floor.

I think the OP's offer is something we'd have to consider but ultimately turn down. There's a good chance the Wiz make the playoffs next year, but there's also a good chance John Wall comes back down to earth, Nene stays injured, and Okafor and Ariza continue their declines. There's a chance we could get a top-ten pick next year from them, and they could easily end up being around the 13th or 14th pick next year, which would arguably be better than #8 this year.

But, let's be real, we need to get better and more talented starting now. This fanbase has got Drummond's improvement to look forward to and not much else. Even if we don't love someone at #8, the deal isn't sweet enough to make us consider delaying the arrival of talent another year.

This thread is now two different topics, but I'll comment on both.

1. The only reason we should trade our pick this year for next is if we get a chance at a top 5 pick next year. Even if Washington did this swap with no protection, one has to think that, if they stay reasonably healthy, the wizards will be in the playoffs next year. So a #8 this year for a #15-#18 next year? No thanks. And just for clarification, BPA doesn't just apply to big guys, so and even if Zeller was the BPA at #8, we draft him and he's our third big.

2. The Cleveland-Detroit thing is going to become a rivalry. Both on similar rebuilding paths, both in the same conference, their PGs got their own little mini rivalry, and Pistons still hate the Cavs when they had LBJ. So f--k the Cavs! :-) Seriously, this is going to be fun to watch.

And 1'd.

Well said.
