He really made me look forward to watching Net games during the early 2000s.

It always made me proud to say that we had the best PG in the league during that time.

He was electric in his heyday.

Greatest Net ever by a country mile and one of the truly elite players we got to watch over the last 20 years. I would rank him 7th over that time frame behind only Shaq, LBJ, KG, TD, Kobe and Dirk.

Sad to see him retire but happy that he did it on his own terms. I am so incredibly grateful for the era he played for this team and all of the awe inspiring moments we were able to witness. He is the platinum standard for playing the game the RIGHT WAY.

Wasnt the biggest fan of his, but he was a fantastic net, easily top 3 and probably #1 in terms of play and impact. was robbed of the MVP his first season here.

I was a senior in high school Kidd's first year on the Nets and have been a die hard Nets fan ever since because of him.Thanks for the great memories i always felt we had a chance to win with Kidd on the floor.

Kidd is one of those guys who I associate with a period in my life when basketball was really exciting and a must-watch on TV. He's also still the only player jersey that I've ever owned.

It was fun watching him then and it was fun watching him to the last few years. It's sad he couldn't go out as a Net and his last memory of him associated with the Nets was that game winner at BC but I think it's time the Nets honor him next season and retire #5. Put him where he belongs.

Just sad that he ended his career in not so good terms with the Nets.

The reason I became a Net fan. Love this guy to bits, incredibly entertaining to watch and the greatest Net of all time, glad he went out with a ring. Really hope we retire his jersey

I think we need a commemorative sig to honour him

We should feel privileged to have had one of the greatest players of all time wear the jersey of our beloved Nets.

I was upset when he left, but at the same time, I couldn't blame him considering what was being done.

I look forward to the Nets retiring #5, very soon.

I am going to go further. I dont just want his jersey retired. I want a JKidd statue of him doing the free throw kiss erected at Barclays. THAT to me is what I want to see.

Right at the entrance! THE KISS!!!!

That is the last touch that building needs.

a statue is a bit much. statue are reserved for the jordans magics and russells of the world. guys who spent their careers with a team and led them to multiple titles.

kidd was great. one of the most productive nets players ever. but he was here 6 years. was all NBA for 3 of them, and never won a title. now, thats no knock, he was a hall of fame player who had his best years and should of won an MVP here. but to get a statue, the standards have to be higher then that.

id rather see jackie robinson out front then kidd

Not for me. This is a NETS building. He is the brightest spot over a span of misery through 30 years. Is it going to happen? Of course not! Because yes, franchises that have legendary history are the ones that embrace their history.

But it would make me happy none the less to see it.

Jackie Robinson out front is political pandering for me. No relevance to the team. I thought when the Mets did this full Brooklyn Dodger embrace instead of their own heritage it came off like a joke. In Brooklyn make more sense. But this isnt a baseball venue.

what does Jackie Robinson have to do with the Nets?

The Nets would be wise to play up Kidd's connection to this dreadful franchise in anyway possible.

I have followed the nets since DC's rookie year. I have come to learn that you never take anything for granted... But such was the priviledge of having JKidd on our roster, I look back now and think WTF? did he really play for us??? Watching that hi-light reel, really made me remember those days.... I still think F you Ratner... But I also understand the Brooklyn project..

what does Jackie Robinson have to do with the Nets?

The Nets would be wise to play up Kidd's connection to this dreadful franchise in anyway possible.

Robinson has a much bigger impact with brooklyn and its history. i think they should retire his number now that stack is gone for sure.

kidd should be honored. but a statue is ridiculous. he simply didnt play here long enough and didnt have enough success here

its easy to blame ratner, but really, what moves do we make that change much? i dont think signing kmart to the deal denver did would have gotten us a championship or back to the finals, and the move to brooklyn may end up being the best thing that ever happens to this franchise

Kidd was just flat out amazing in ways its hard to quantify. You watch Deron Williams and you see that Kidd doesn't touch him talent wise. But then you look at the games and far too many games, Deron Williams plays and at the end of the game you look at the boxscore and go "WTF? He dropped 26/9?!?!?".

And then you have Kidd who you see the impact he makes, only to look at the box score later and go "WTF? He only had 10/7/6/2?!?!" just because of how impactful he is to the game and how he controls the tempo of it.

For a player who was really hyped because of his numbers and his triple-double, Kidd's biggest impact often is not shown by the numbers he logs.

I will take Jason Kidd talent wise over Deron in every single skill set EXCEPT for self creating his shot. Deron off the dribble is vastly better in that regard. Kidd...better, passer in in the half court or transition. Better decisions maker. One of the highest IQ's ever for the game. Better rebounder. Better defender. Both are great ball handlers...but Kidd what Kidd does with the ball is not just for highlight dribbles...every time the ball leaves his hands it looks like its on a string. Its always with purpose. Set shot wise...Kidd has always quietly been a strong complimentary 3 point threat. Off the catch and shoot he was always a big threat...thus his 3rd all time ranking on that list. Then there are the intangibles Speedy spoke of. Kidd made his impact felt in every game. In every play. He has the elite ability only the absolute all time greats have where he can come up with that must have play. Be it a pass, a rebound, a shot, a ft or a forced turnover.

Kidd is one of the three greatest PG's of all time in my personal opinion. I take him over anyone other than Magic or Stockton. And yes...I know the list of "other" great PG's I am ranking him over. He just embodied WINNER to me. Deron is NOT that type of player.
