underkanter, Have you lost your mind?
That trade would make the Jazz a major player in the west.

No way the Celtics make that trade. They could probably get that kind of value for Jeff Green alone..
Rumor has it we're interested in Paul Millsap, though..

I would do Jeff Green for Millsap in a heartbeat.

i don't like green's contract. not at all. still owed 27.8M for 3 more years. we can deal with it next season, but after that it becomes a hindrance. I'd rather not take on such a contract, and prefer to have an extra 8-9M available at the free agency of next season.
Draft Nate Wolters - FAILED
Keep Nate Wolters - FAILED

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Do the Jazz really want to pay $18M next year for their second- and third-best small forwards?
What's so great about Jeff Green? Despite the occasional explosion of athleticism or scoring he's essentially an average SF getting paid $9M/year over the next three years.

I think Jeff Green finally came into his own this season, developing the killer instinct he lacked in the past. I think he has the basketball IQ, skill set, and athleticism to be a very solid addition to this team.
I guess part of it depends on whether you think his post-ASB performances are fool's gold or the real deal. I happen to believe the latter. Finding his stride after recovering from open heart surgery, Green averaged 17 PPG, 5 RPG, 2.7 APG, and 4.1 FTA on 49% FG, 43% 3PT, and 80% FT.
Green is capable of guarding most 3s, many 2s, and some 4s. He's best as a 3 on the offensive end, but can play the 4 ably and stretch the defense if the matchup is right. He's capable of creating for himself and others, as well, something we need more of. That versatility, in my opinion, makes him a very good asset.
I think any combination of Green, Hayward, and Burks can share the court together at the same time, creating a very good 3-swing man rotation that would hopefully leave Marvin Williams on the outside looking in.
I personally think Green would be a perfectly good use of cap space for what he brings to the table. But that's just my opinion, and is influenced by my belief that he can largely maintain his recent production. We'll see if that's the case.

celtic fan here , I come in peace . Rondo would be more than enough to swing that deal . I hope you guys find a good deal somewhere but that deal would send us spinning into the rebuild mode . I keep hearing Bledsoe as the guy most likely to take the reins in Jazz land . good luck.... always admired Sloan and the way guys played for him .

Re: Trade Idea with Bos
If the Jazz want Rondo they have to part with at least favours or Kanter. Nothing less.
You'd have to give up Kanter or Favors plus your 14th pick or draft Schroeder for us if you're keeping Rondo.
If you want Green on his bargain contract then you're looking at Burks and some more picks.
Jeff green on 9 million a year is a bargain. Wait till he's a full time small forward for a full season for the first time in his career.

One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

exactly why it was a Boston fan suggesting this trade and not a jazz fan.robbie84 wrote:If the Jazz want Rondo they have to part with at least favours or Kanter. Nothing less.

Yeah i think for an All Star PG (granted hes coming off ACL surgery) Danny Ainge would require at least Kanter and the 14th pick. He'd probably need even more to justify it to ownership considering how many tickets Rondo sells and his star power. Id dare say hed wants Burks too. Kanter is far from a sure thing and Schroeder is the 14th pick in a weaker draft. Wed also have to take back salary if you want Rondo or Green.
Actually if you want Green youd be looking at Hayward, craeder and more picks because wed have to take back Marvin Williams amongst other crap.
Just being realistic.

Re: Trade Idea with Bos
I like Jeff Green, but no way I'm giving up Hayward + picks for him. I do think it's fair that Ainge/ownership would feel the need to have a huge haul (bigger than may be consistent with the value of a guy coming off ACL surgery) to be able to sell it to the fan base. That makes a deal unlikely.

Re: Trade Idea with Bos
How this went from not good enough for Boston (Rondo/Green/Bass for Burks/#14/#21/future 1st) to costing 3 of the Jazz "core four" plus all those picks (Hayward/Kanter/Burks/Williams/#14/#21/more picks) I don't know. Truth may be somewhere in the middle but let's please stop short of giving the entire Jazz future (picks and players minus Favors) for Rondo (ACL surgery) and Green.

That's no problem but your gm would have no problem doing it. Haywards ok, but he's not as good as Green.

It's arguable whether Green's better, but asinine to think the difference in talent is multiple draft picks. Try not to lose your mind here...

you don't watch Hayward every night, we don't watch Green. But I feel strongly that if you did, you'd not be so sure of it. The difference is a still growing player vs a player that probably pretty much is who he is. Hayward has an all star ceiling. Idk that Green does.

Re: Trade Idea with Bos
These are some of the worst trades I've ever seen. I would so much rather have Hayward, Kanter, Burks + picks than an ACL torn Rondo and an overpaid tweener Jeff Green. And so would every other rebuilding team in the league.
