With a cap of $58.5 we're looking at $27.5 mil in cap space without even dumping CV-DNP and Stuckey

#13 + Marion would take up approx $12.7 million which leaves us with $14.8 mil to spend

#22 + Humphries takes us another $13.1 mil... and we're done!

A likely Draft (using DX's latest Mock)

# 8 = Bazz... we get someone with a killer mentality to score from the perimeter

#13 = MCW... we get a big PG that could be a defensive weapon... allows Knight to stay off the ball

#22 = Crabbe... we get a shooter

Roster for 2013-14:

Drummond/Humphries/Slava
Monroe/CV-DNP/Marion
Singler/Middleton/Jerebko
Bazz/Stuckey/Crabbe/English
Knight/MCW

Humphries, Slave, CV-DNP, Marion, Stuckey, English all come off the books... and we'd have to retain Monroe

Drummond, Monroe, Singler, Bazz, Knight, MCW, Crabbe, Middleton, Jerebko,

Drummond = 2,568,360
Singler = 1,090,000
Bazz = 2,310,400
Knight = 3,553,917
MCW = 1,729,800
Crabbe = 1,130,900
Middleton = 915,243
Jerebko = 4,500,000

Assume a $58.5 mil cap again...team salary would be approx $17,798,620

$40.5 mil in cap space...

IF we gave Monroe $12 mil we'd still have $28.5 million to attract free agents - and if the kids showed something next season we'd be looking for back-up big men and veterans to "show them the way"

Are we better served renting out our cap space for youth/prospects and then having another look at free agency next off-season?

I actually love the idea Pharaoh. The problem is I'd add Marshon Brooks for the BG TPE which would expiring next season to the Humpries deal. I also have a huge problem having so many vets though. Marion, DNP-Cv, Stuckey, and Humpries would all become potential huge locker room issues if all played only reserve roles. I think the Pistons would be forced to play a rookie line-up: Drummond, Monroe, Singler, Muhammed, (Knight or MCW, most likely Knight) with the bench minutes going to Marion, Stuckey, DNP-CV, and Humpries. I'm not sure that could work but all would have to be bought out. I'd Maggette Marion, Stuckey, and Humpries while Amnesiting DNP-CV and go with this line-up:

C Drummond/Krastov
F Monroe/Jerebko
F Kyle Singler/Crabbe/Middleton
G Muhammed/Brooks/English
G Knight/Carter-Williams

Stuckey, Humpries, Marion

Well, the reason I didn;t "Maggette" them is to swing for the fences via trade.

All those kids on the roster + lots of expiring deals... maybe we can do a blockbuster and get some serious perimeter help here?

IMO the idea/plan/whatever is a no brainer. Win-win situation.

Less than 30 days to go until free agency... at the very least this forum will be busy!
