What would be the better tandem? McCollum/Mclemore? Or McCollum/oladipo?

I think McLemore just because imo Harkless and Dipo are redundant and if Moe is starting you need someone that can spread the floor.

i can agree with this. Plus, if CJ is an attacking guard, Ben would keep opposing defenses honest by respecting his outside shot.

You know the difference between him and other PGs is his unusually strong body. It enables him to be a good rebounder penetrator and defender that will translate to the NBA. That differentiates him from others and I would sincerely consider taking him #2. That might not be the consensus but I think looking back 2-3 yeras from now--it will be considered a good choice.

McCullum/Dipo is intriguing because it's scorer matched with defender.

McCullum/McLemore is intriguing because it's like Curry/Ellis, but with both guys being able to play off ball so they wouldn't be stepping all over each other. It's potentially a lot of scoring coming from the guard positions (not comparing either player to those players btw).

But, honestly, I'm not expecting a second pick.

lol, sorry I'm getting a bit caught up in the details here... but... Well that isn't like Curry/Ellis at all. What you are describing is Curry/Thompson. Considering Ellis was traded to open the door for Thompson which lead to a successful combination I'm surprised you didn't just skip to the more appropriate analogy!

I like how you conveniently took out the part where I said that I wasn't comparing Mclem/McCol to Curry/Ellis.

lol, sorrry I must have mistaken "it's like Curry/Ellis" to mean something else! But come on... you're using Curry/Ellis as an example but pointing out a key difference. Considering what you are describing overall is the current tandem of Curry/Thompson, why not just use them? ...especially considering how well they did the year. Again, I'm nitpicking here but it just seamed a bit silly to me.

Because I didn't think of them. It was like "Two scoring guards who are similar sizes. Ellis and Curry. They don't play like that though."

Sure. The reason for my nitpicking on this is that I am a fan of the McLemore/CJ tandem and I don't think that the poorly chosen comparison of Curry/Ellis does it justice. Curry/Ellis did not have much success since the two are so similar. But McLemore and McCollum are very different players despite both being great shooters. Curry and Thompson are great shooters as well, but Curry is a natural ball handler while Thompson is better suited to play off the ball, much like McLemore.

I'm saying the same thing. I think that guard line up has a lot of potential.

Yes, so considering Curry/Ellis is not a good comparison and in the end proved a failure let us avoid even mentioning them!

Bingo. This guy is nba ready RIGHT NOW. Also has athleticism that surprised you because he comes off as such a skilled player that relies on his shooting and ballhandling to do damage.

nope.

38 inch vert at the combine.

Only thing that turns me off about this guy is that he was at a small school and regressed from his freshman year to soph year.... He had 2 good years of school and the other 2 were kind of awful.....

Where is the regression? All the numbers are basically the same.. :-?

Its not exactly regression - his shooting numbers and points were his best his senior year, but his rebounding was down and his assists weren't exactly linear from fresh to senior year.

I'm just looking at him from Fresh to soph year he went from

46% and 42% to 40% and 31% his soph year. Then his senior year seems semi like a small sample size to judge from.

He also played awful every time he played a ranked team, even though it was only a handful.

His situation also reminds me of Lillard who turned out pretty damn good, so I could end up eating my words lol

EDIT: What I want to know is.....why do players like him stay in school for so long? Because after 2 years in school IMO you know if someone has it or they don't. If it takes 3-4 years to be an NBA prospect then I feel like they have already hit close to their ceiling.....thoughts?

He was a Mid 1st to Early 1st rounder if he came out last year, It was a shock he returned. He said he felt he should be loyal to Lehigh because they always stuck by him before others realized his game.
