Nominate Jeter
http://www.realgm.com/boards/baseball/v ... php?t=2210
Real GM Top 100 players thread. The rules are simple, you vote for one of the nominees and vote for one player you want nominated. Let's get Jeter on here and vote for him in the next spot.

Seriously? I love Alex. But how he dealt with the same Alex who once said, "You don't go into New York worrying about Derek, you worry about Paul O'Neill and Bernie Williams. You don't ever say, don't let Derek beat you"

which is true. Last season was Jeter's best hitting season, he has never had to carry a club , hitting in the # 2 hole w/ Bernie or Paul O'neil or Tino after you does not make you a dangerous bat. Jetes at times is overrated in what he does a GG shortstop

Jetes at times is overrated in what he does a GG shortstop, the myths if he was a number 3 hitter he would have 30 HRS
, an RBI threat
, again he's damn good but when Alex said what he said that was the honest truth
Not true, Jeter's best offensive season came in 1999 when he hit .349 with 24 HR and 102 RBI, while stealing 19 bases. And I don't know if he's overrated at shortstop, he's by far the best player in the league at going back on a pop up, which is why I said they should have switched him to center field when the ARod trade was made, he has significant range (I dont care about that range factor stat) and is probably the best at going to his right deep in the hole in the game. The players vote on the gold glove, not the writers....and i'll take their word over any writer voting for the hall of fame or mvp or cy young any day. He's also going to finish in all liklihood with around 3,750 hits, which will put him in the top 5....at least 4 world series wrings, a world series MVP. To think he wouldn't have more RBI's hitting in the 3 hole is ridiculus, instead of hitting behind the 9 and 1 hitters, you are hitting behind the 1 and 2 hitters. It would be good for probably around 50 AB w/ RISP a year, which if you hit at Jeters .310 career clip w RISP would maybe be good for 15+ RBI a year.

he was a singles and doubles hitter you take Bernie and Paulie off that team the Yankees offense would struggle. He's definitely a great Yankee but if he weren't a Yankee we wouldn't hear alot about him.

dudes a winner, clutch as all hell, and does the little things needed to help teams win. Theres a reason why we won those series against Texas when they had Juan Gone and Palmeiro and those players. Great pitching and situational small ball wins when great teams play each other.

Bernie Williams is the reason we won that series buddy. No one is taking Jeter's greatness away but he is overrated at times.

i know your reasons. i'm just saying power hitters aren't the only reason teams win games. Take Bernie off those teams we don't win, take Jete off those teams we dont win. Do we win in 98 if not for El Duque, prolly not...Brosious...maybe not...Tinos homer in game one...maybe not. It's a team effort, and Jeter was the leader of those teams. Arod, as great as he is, is not a great leader...a great talent yes. Jeter also has instincts that Arod doesn't

Bernie and Paulie were home run hitters? They did what needed to be done to get the runs in. Same as Jeter. To say Jeter didnt have as much to do with the dynasty run as the rest of the guys is totally ridiculous!

Paul O'neil and Leyritz were the leaders of that team, Darryl mentored Jetes and was named captain because Steinbrenner called him out in public for partying, the captain was suppose to be Bernie at the time.
I'm not gonna get into this again, so agree to disagree

Jeter is a great teammate and that side of him none of us can see for our own eyes. Nobody has ever had a problem with him on his own team OR even other teams for that matter! Even Red Sox players respect him and like him. There is nothing gpoing on between Jeter and Arod and all that got pushed under the rug after Arods comments in spring training. They have lockers right next to eachother for christ's sake! Jeter has been known by all as the perfect teammate.
As far as the 3,700 hits, thats a stretch. He will definitly reach 3,000 in my opinion on the pace he is on now.

He seems to be getting better as he gets older.

yes his numbers are getting better but they will peak fairly soon. This is his prime years, we are seeing the best Jeter has to offer. He is also going to hit like this for awhile longer but realistically he will not hit 200 hits until 42 years old. I believe Jeter AND Arod will be playing for a long time together so we will see some great years from both of them, and hopefully they will lead us to at least one more ring before they retire.

Amen to that.
